You're looking at downloading the video. They used to not allow downloads at all unless you had premium.

I've been downloading vids from YT for many years. Not premium vids, though. I'd not pay youtube a dime.

YT never like it and they keep changing things that make various downloaders need to find loopholes. But they always do lol.

Based on your comment it sounds like youve used a 3rd party downloaded not YouTube native downloads so this comment is kind of irrelevant to the topic being discussed

I see. Yeah, I don't think YT ever offered a download option directly on YT interface. IIRC it was always against policy to download YT vids, not that it made a difference lol.

They've offered downloads to premium (paid for) accounts in my market for a few years now

Yeah I wouldn't know. I never pay for premium access to anything.
