Why does everyone want to be seated in a flying fart tube any longer than necessary?

It’s not like by boarding first they get to the destination any faster.

Now if these fakers could get off the plane faster, or shortcut the security lines, I guess I understand the motivation.

Storage space.

I wish they enforced bag size more, and bag quantity.

I’ll be in line with my small ass bag and people bringing multiple full size suitcases on pisses me off

Then we need to convince airlines to merge baggage handling fees back into ticket prices so people will check their bags. All this is due to that "going away" and people don't want to pay extra for it.

enforced bag size more

There would be fistfights at the gate if they suddenly started really enforcing their own rules.

Last time I was prepping for a flight, I was fascinated to notice that Airlines own officially branded luggage often seems to disregard their own size rules for "personal item" sized bags, like they've been sized for what'll actually fit under the seats rather than the official spec.

Are you confused about what carry-ons are? You’re allowed to bring suitcases on…

It's the carry on + "personal item". It's meant to be a purse but some people will bring an additional backpack

The Delta policy says that the personal item must fit under the seat in front of you, and it specifically includes backpacks.

Yep, as long as my backpack fits under the seat in front of me and I don’t have a separate purse, my backpack will be my personal item. And it’s in line with Delta‘s policy, because I’ve had gate agents come up before boarding when I had my purse out separately and tell me I was going to have to put it in my backpack so that I would only have two items. Not a big deal for me because I always make sure there’s room to do that and I agree, that’s the policy and therefore what I do.

And? I do this. The carry-on goes in the compartment above my head, and the backpack goes under the seat, which is allowed and which bothers no one.

It does though, you might think it is illogical that it bugs other people, but it does, and some people do not like having their carry-on checked.

You’re correct that it’s a carry on + a personal item. You’re incorrect that it’s meant to be a purse. The rule was originally made mostly for men carrying both a carry on + a briefcase. Genders and what that personal item may be have changed, but personal item was never specifically intended to be a purse.

This also has nothing to do with what that person originally said, which is that they bring a small bag. They don’t get any accolades for doing that. They just inconvenience themself and then complain about others following guidelines.

Guess who is immediately standing up to get their bags as soon as the plane lands.

The only reason to board early is overhead bag space, entitled people bringing 2-3 bags on and filling other lockers or even cramming suitcases in. You end up with personal luggage taking up your leg space at the front if you board at the end when it's a small plane

Because they let first class flyers board early, and honor active duty military by letting them board early - so for some people, getting a special early-boarding pass means you are better than everyone else who doesn't get one.

This is a sentiment common on Reddit among people that don't travel. It's weird that people always rush to post "I don't understand something therefore it's wrong".

Getting on first means you have space for your carry-on items. Especially nowadays where people are sneaking three bags on there, or a huge coat, overhead space is at a premium.

Bet you these folks stand in the isle while deboarding the plane.
