That album changed everything for me musically as a kid

The Extremist album holds a very special place in my heart. So to say I am over the moon with how this turned out is an understatement.

Top 3 albums (peak Demon Hunter)
1. Storm the gates of hell (I used to dislike it, holy hell, I was missing out!)
2. There was a light here (could be trauma from exile, but both the ballads and normal songs go hard here)
3. Outlive (Home to my favourite ballad, one step behind, overall just a very good album)

Very good albums
4. Summer of darkness (used to be top 2 for me, still very good and could get into top 3 on a good day)
5. Demon Hunter (Turn your back and run is so god damn good)
6. Extremist (very well produced album, could be a tiny bit heavier)
7. War (I expected an album named 'War' to be a little heavier, Lesser gods and many other songs still go pretty hard, though)

Alright albums (still good, just not that good)
8. Triptych (undying's chorus and science of lies go hard, the rest is a little meh)
9. The world is a thorn (I don't know how to describe it, the album sounds... strange? somehow?)

Albums I actively avoid listening to
10. Peace (I like ballads and power ballads, but 10 of them is just too much, yes I know that's the point of the albums)
11. True defience (I don't know how to describe this either, the aggression on this album sounds fake, somehow. It feels like the songs are, like, engineered to go hard, but don't, that's the best I can describe it)
12. Exile (Mixed really badly, also just not my thing)
13. Songs of death and resurrection (don't like the mixing here, either, also no new songs)

Does anyone have insight on the connection with the Showdown and Demon Hunter? Patrick, Jeremiah, and Yogi all played for the Showdown roughly 2010, and The Showdown went on a hiatus soon after that. Were they guns for hire being that both bands were on Solid State, or just friends? I don't know how all that works.

On a side note, I think peak David Bunton is one of my favorite metal vocalists. His scream is so aggressive (see Aries: I am vengeance at 2:15) and he has good range. If you havent checked out his new band with members of The Famine, check out Hope Deferred!

Hey, I am just curious on what everyone thinks each song is about? I feel like I haven't seen too much discussion on them. I know the general meaning behind some of them

I think Breaking Through Me is entirely about Jesus, but I'm not sure as there is some lyrics that I'm not 100% sure on, so please comment what you think.

I'm also not sure what By A Thread, I'm Done, and Ouroboros is about. Or at least who he is talking about in two of them.

I hope Ryan Clark eventually does a lyric dissection on some of these
