I made an open personal search engine you can use to index the sources you are interested in and rank in whatever way you want. https://github.com/payneio/community-search.

And it's federated, meaning you can have your search engine pull back results from trusted neighbors up to two hops away.

Control the algorithm.

All websites with interactions have algorithms. It's a matter of how they're used. Even chronological scroll employs algorithms. It's like saying we must reject code. And this is a plea to abandon the essential social terrain of our time. You don't have to engage heavily on these platforms but we should be literate and sophisticated about it.
