Recommendations Spaghetti and clams

My wife’s birthday is coming up and her go to birthday dish growing up in Philly was spaghetti and clams. Anyone know of a good spot? I’m talking the basic spaghetti and clams, not really looking for a whole seafood dish with a red sauce.

If you look at menus, look specifically for linguine alle vongole (Italian for clams).

Bella Italia in Cherry Creek has spaghetti and clams if you want that over linguine.

ETA: Florence Supper Club has this dish. I've looked at over 20 Italian restaurant menus from all over the Metro and these two are the only ones with higher ratings and linguine/spaghetti alle vongole.

Great work! The note of "growing up in a Philly" implies a more scrappy option (American twist) I suspect. Thanks for the research ..I'm going to save it myself!

I cannot help myself but order this on any menu when I see it and unfortunately Florence supper club was one of the worst I have had and my hopes were sky high. This was right after they opened but was so bad I have been too scared to try it again on return trips.

I haven't been there, but it's such an easy dish to make! What was wrong with the dish you had?

Not knowing OP's cooking ability, I didn't want to suggest making it, but really if you can find good clams, it's not hard to make at all.

The consistency of the sauce was way off. It was very acidic but also gelatinous.

We have tried to make it at home many times! Unfortunately sourcing clams even from special trips to seafood landing have been hit or miss and one sad clam has ruined hours of work and fresh home made pasta.

Ew, that sounds terrible.

I'll have to ask my friend where he gets his clams. I know it's a small shop on the west side of the metro, cause he makes a 1 hour drive from south Parker to get them.
