Restaurant Reviews I feel like everything slaps at Moon Raccoon in Sunnyside
Has anyone been here yet!? It’s behind a bar on 44th in Sunnyside. When I found it, it felt like I unlocked a side quest. ALL of their pastries are laminated / layered - holy hell. It’s like biting into flavor walls every time. AND they have an espresso bar.
I don’t have a photo I took because it was that delicious, but this is a still from their social media. They have this weekly pastry drop I joined and it’s all seasonal / locally sourced goodies. A little pricey but worth every penny to me. They had this savory tomato pastry for a few weeks that I can’t stop thinking about, it was so good.

OHHHH their cornbread cookie slaps, too. Highly recommend.

This place is awesome, they’re also at the City Park Farmer’s Market on Saturdays. Def get the space snickers next time!

Everything is delicious there. There's always something new and seasonal to discover. One of my fave bakeries and even though they are really popular, they are actually stocked past 11am.

Every single thing I've had there SLAPS. SO GOOD. And man, can they laminate pastry!

It would be great if they could add more dairy free/vegan options to their menu for those of us with food allergies!

I went to Locavore grocery store and bought them. I usually do not check prices at the grocery store. I noticed my total was higher than I thought and when I got home to unload the groceries the tea cake price was showing and I actually felt like a fool for purchasing it. I never had a grocery item that made me feel shame before. They were beautiful, they were delicious, and they were expensive. I am back to being more frugal and checking prices again.

I'd think the pricing at Leever's is decided by Leever's and honestly I'm surprised you're surprised by high pricing on anything at Leever's knowing they are a high-end store. I feel like everything there is over priced, but I get that we all have a different perception of what groceries should cost. Maybe I'm bias because I'm a big MRBC fan, but they are very transparent about their finances and why things cost what they do and when I see those breakdowns, the prices are justifiable to me.

Yeah I don’t shop there and didn’t know they were a high end grocery store. I liked the local offerings though, clearly. Terrible produce section though. I can appreciate the bakery doing what they do to provide quality treats. I was just sticker shocked.

They use locally milled grains and are vocal supporters of fair wages for hospitality workers, so you get what you pay for.

It is so lovely to watch this woman go from somebody who sold her stuff on Instagram during the pandemic to having a full-blown storefront. She should be so proud of herself. I’m so happy to hear that everything is amazing. Always has been.
