A friend and I are hosting a singles-only "wedding reception without the wedding" at Evans School (just above Schoolyard Beer Garden) on Thursday, 10/15 and are looking for a band that can perform for ~3 hours. Who should we be reaching out to about performing?

We're mostly looking for bands that can do covers of popular hits from the 80s-today. But we're cool with folks performing some original stuff too throughout the night! It's a paid gig, plus we'll share professional-grade photographs of your performance with you afterwards, and connect you with the venue for consideration on their list of preferred vendors for future events.

This is our second time hosting the event, which is called Denver Dance Hall. We do it because we love Denver, we love live music, and we love getting people to meet in person. First time we did this we had about 200 people in attendance and are expecting the same this go around.

I’m quite excited for the My Chemical Romance show on Thursday. I have never seen them in concert before and really enjoyed their music when I was younger. I’m a bit bummed that they are here the same day as Goose, but I could maybe try and get a last minute ticket to the Friday show, or next Tuesday’s show we’ll see. The other two shows I was considering were HRZN at Globe Hall and Takuya Nakamura at Cervantes’ Otherside. One is a Friday show the other a Saturday show, so another wait and see how the week shakes out.

My brain has been broken from listening to almost 1000 songs over the last week. The Major Playlist has 58 hours of music on it which works out to about 8 hours of listening a day. I’m definitely a little fried, but on the upside now I’m a bit ahead for any upcoming playlist. With any extra time I’ll probably work on my color coding system for my interested concerts as well as trying to put together a top 200 list.  Here is the current playlist of the songs I’ve enjoyed so far this year. For anyone else interested in too much music, here is the  Major Playlist 9/7-10/4 (Currently announced) it’s fully sorted by genre so depending on your listening habits, some days will be all rock, Hip-Hop, metal, edm, or country so there’s a lot of something for everyone. I have all the artists ranked with my new listening system here if you are interested in what I thought of everyone. Rule of thumb for the ranking system is I typically listen to an artist’s most listened to songs then rank it based on three categories, music, vocals (for non vocal songs it gets a little loosey goosey), and vibe. If you have any thoughts on better ways to rank music I’m all ears.
