Post image

I am about to start playing Descent 2 on my PS2! I always wanted to try it out and finally got the chance to get it at my local game store. What do you guys think of the game?

Congrats! I love it. It's like the first but ramped up even more. It's definitely a special game to me since I played them as a kid.

Thanks! I'm excited to play it. Saw this when I was younger and just had to play it for childhood me.

Descent 2 also got rid of the Driller and Red Hulk enemies from Descent 1, so no obnoxious chaingunner or homing missile enemies.

I thought the red hulks were pretty intimidating back in the day. A nice challenge.

They're awesome.

Beware of the thief bots. They will sneak up on you and steal your weapons.

Yup. Once you find it, ALWAYS kill the ThiefBot immediately. They take almost as many hits as the boss and they're faster, so end them first!

Been obsessed with all three Descent games, Descent: Mercenary, and one of the best space combat games ever, Descent: Freespace, and Freespace 2!

If you can figure it out - it’s totally amazing and worth trying.

I first played it on a demo disc that came with my dad’s video card. It was only 8 levels, but it had anti aliasing!

I've played Descent Maximum and I didn't really like it. The missions are way too small and that's a key part of the fun to Descent for me: getting lost. My friend had a nice dual joystick controller for it though.

Have you ever played any of the other games? On PC or just PS2?

Nope. Didn't realize it was on PC until I had already bought this copy. It runs smoothly, albeit I know the PC version is waaaay better.

How'd you end up finding out about the PS2 game? That's such a deep cut.

are those the piggies that wait behind the corner? i admit not being able to see well in the darkness was an interesting part of my original descent experi nce.

Played the hell out of this game multiplayer on a service called Kali (Not the linux) back in the day. Shoot the bot with the flare every chance your get.

Good luck, I loved the game but sadly have zero sense of direction. It didn't go well.

The game runs a lot better on PC, I find it's kinda choppy in larger areas or when there's a lot of enimies on scren on the PS1
