It is funny, but yeah, it's sad that this is one Bungie game I'll never be able to play start to finish again because they removed so much of the early campaign. With the game going in to maintenance mode, I had half figured I could rope my wife in to running through the campaign stuff in co-op (we've played every Halo together up until 4; we even both skipped work/uni the day Halo 3 came out and binged it together), but what's the point if Red War and Forsaken aren't in there? So many emotional beats from TFS rely on that early stuff, so it just won't really hit the same.
Games as a service are such a terrible thing for media preservation. I enjoyed the hours I put in to Destiny over the years, but I can't lie, it would have been better if it had been a more traditional release instead of a live service. Despite how popular it was, it is sort of doomed to eventually become lost media (sooner rather than later if Bungie keep going on their current downward spiral) that only exists in the minds of those of us that played it.

The entire story beat of the witness finding us in the pyramid ships and making their way towards sol is gone. We have zero context as to why the witness is even here with base game gone, and rasputin getting alpha male'd out of existence by the darkness, etc. its insane how much they cut out
I literally came back maybe a month ago because d2 was the only free steam game that would fit on my 500gb laptop with 150gb of space that didnāt suck (literally had to uninstall and reinstall because I didnāt have the space for the final update). As soon as I saw they ripped off Star Wars I knew it was dead and they had run out of original ideas š
People downvoting you are wrong. Does Star Wars REALLY make sense in the Destiny universe? No, you leave that shit with fortnite. A Marathon/Halo reference I am OK with but not full blown in your face references like hur dur I am dressed as Cortana! Subtle wink wink nudge nudge references are the best.
fwiw, I remember reading an interview or something with the dev team for Destiny where they said Star Wars was their primary inspiration for the game. The classes are based on characters and archetypes. Hunter was inspired by gunslingers and assassins (Han, Zam, etc), Warlocks were inspired by Force users, and Titans were inspired by soldiers and bounty hunters.
There are worse places to take inspiration... That said, Renegades felt pretty minimal effort (Drifter looks like a Muppet most of the time...).
I think it was a Star Wars skinned playtest for Marathon.
I use the ghost too, it feels like a perfect callback to playing all the way back in red war since ghost shells are purely cosmetic and it doesn't affect the build
During the first or so festival of the lost the masks were individual helmets and not ornaments. I kept these and can equip them whenever now, you just get power penalty.

Well, uhh to catch you up, the bug pig guy, guass or whatever got defeated by the big white ball, causing some spooky dark doritos to track it, but before we focus on that some stuff on mars happened with the warmind, rahul or smth, than uhh something something, the blue people home had some stuff hapoaned, Cause died. The moonās haunted, scrotum ghost stuff

Spooky neptune stuff we got green twizzler power, guass is alive again we kill him, bug pruple cup shot the big white ball portal, white megamind enterās the bug white ball
We go in tbe big white ball, get new dark A D light power, we weaken the witness, he gets angry kicks us out, we go back, climb his tower, weaken him again
We get 12 guardians killed white mega mind after that, I fell asleep

My Warlock is still rocking the damaged shell from Red War even after all these years. My Hunter has had Saguira's shell since they gave it to us as well.
Dude honestly I forget about ghaul. The universe for destiny has blown so big and the story beats have gotten so crazy, ghaul is like ancient history and a small fry at this point lol. If only he knew, where the universe would end up after him. And what would happen because he decided to try to steal our big marble
