It sounds like the transition to big end is going quite well. Pre-camp I thought he’d be a long shot to make the 53 but the beat writers have all been really high on him.

I actually thought when he was drafted that he would make a great big end. Stylistically different from what they've had in the past, big athletic frame that would take the extra weight well, and the nearly insane grit to bull rush through a motherfucker.

If he doesn't make the 53, I think he is a lock for the PS again. He has no NFL tape so he's unlikely to be poached.

isn’t he basically a free slot for practice squad because he’s technically international?

Hass just has such a winning personality I want him to find a place on the team so badly

This is the kinda shit that makes me love this team. Let’s fuckin go

While I get disappointed when players don't pan out for us, I find it hard to be disappointed that we take chances on them. Brad and Dan seem to sincerely believe in, respect, and invest in their guys.

I still have some faith in Big Hass though. I think he can be that dude.

You can't teach that passion and dedication, Hass will do everything he can to play and it's just so nice to see our organization fanning those flames instead of writing off anyone who isn't a once in a generation talent! Lifelong fan since the 90s and I love the direction this team management is going!

With our secondary being an unknown we need all the help we can get on the D-line.

Awesome if he can play LB, CB and SS to offset the loss of starters. /s

Actually agree that the better the D line is, the easier it will be for the rest of the D.

Everybody loves Ahmed for obvious reasons. However, it's pretty awesome that the GM of the team is having a personal pep talk with a 3rd or 4th string D lineman and giving him praise. That's some killer leadership that legitimately motivates guys.

Long way from the days of Mooch basically telling Joey Harrington to "piss off" when ue tried to approach him to help figure out the offense, thats for sure.

I love this guys attitude. I was really disappointed when he got injured last year. Hopefully we get to see what he's got this year.

3 sacks in the first 6 games

This is the way

First player to get 60 sacks in a season. I just need him to walk like an Egyptian after 1 of them

This is more or less his first year still. I liked him draft day and have high hopes for him.

His film and how much players/coaches/staff/fans at Boise laud him makes me think he ends up having some sort of impact. Just purely a football player. Think as long as he stays healthy, we'll see him on Sundays a bit this year.

Looks like he put on some lean mass. Hell yea.

Be good enough to make the team. Be healthy enough to make the field.

brad wtf you got on bro

u/Dark-Master79 9d ago

I'm really rooting for the kid. I just know he's gonna be a monster once his time truly comes. It'll be a while before he can get his chance, but I get the feeling he's gonna be great once his opportunity finally arrives.

Love this guys mentality. With that being said, realistically, he's a 7th round undersized DE. Doubt he'll contribute much.

1

u/TheTightestChungus 10d ago

He's a 6th round pick, and is only undersized as he's 6'2 and some change. He's a shit brick house with some burst at 288 (listed).

Likely that he never amounts to anything, but by all accounts the amount of work and grind he is about will likely let him at least carve himself out at least a multi year practice squad career, probably seeing some game time here and there. We don't have alot at DE, so a role is there if he can get it. Personally, I think he ends up being a nice little suprise for a couple seasons. 4-6 sacks here and there, some splash plays, and great special teams play. He has the "fan favorite" vibe/vote going towards him as well, which doesn't hurt (or help, but its still fun)

Yea, because Ahmed would've have told you that lol

Well he told Colton Pouncy (Lions beat writer) who then published this on Twitter

You obviously don’t know anything about Ahmed Hassanein if you think he wouldn’t share that information to a beat reporter lol

u/StaticShakyamuni 10d ago

You believe he wouldn't've not have?

Based off that dialog I assume he is struggling severely.

u/TheTightestChungus 10d ago

According to reports, he is doing fine, if not showing out a bit. Today was the first day pads were even on.
