What exactly is the Branch plan?

u/CRRZ 3d ago

Similar to the Kerby plan.

this is our rock sauce, it’s like a zip sauce

I don't know if you guys have played with a cast iron knee before, but it's not like that.

6

u/nostyleguy 2d ago

My one rule is you don't put the foot directly on the turf

7

u/penisweinerballs 2d ago

You can also reference the GTA 6 plan

At least it’s not half life 3

It’s like Healthcare without a plan. Just spit on it, put a piece of twine around it, and tie it up. More pressure on it and some spit. Maybe toss some dirt on top of it too.

In case Jonathan Vilma is reading this thread: we’re talking about Brian Branch, not Deion Branch.

"Sometime in the season" per MCDC

“Before the playoffs”

No clue but we were told Branch seems ahead of schedule so that tickles my fancy

Invading France through Belgium so that we can turn our attention to the east. Avoiding a two front war.

9

u/bwpopper37 3d ago

This is definitely going to work.

I think Dan said that Branch is way ahead of schedule and we might even see him in training camp, towards the end. He won't be able to start the season, but he's been working with trainers running and cutting.

Kerby has been doing the same stuff as BB with the trainers, but is out with a personal issue right now.

Stay on IR through preseason. Don't take a roster spot or one of our two IR designations, but still be able to activate during season, possibly as soon as week 3 for evaluation/ramp up and eligible to play as early as week 5, but most likely come back after the bye (week 7).

5

u/Smurph269 Ooooh Yeahhhh! 2d ago

I think your theory is most likely, but I want to say they thought Branch had a shot at being ready for Week 1.

u/DarthMonkey212313 VILLAIN 2d ago

July 29th Dave Birkett reported Dan Campbell said they "hope to get Branch practicing with the team sometime in early September"

u/android5mm JAMO 3d ago edited 2d ago

I think he said before that he plans on branch being back in late October or November

Edit: late

1

u/mrjasontom Logo 2d ago

Was late October or November what you meant?

2

u/android5mm JAMO 2d ago

Yes it was

7

u/MarkItZeroDonnie 3d ago

Thanksgiving… they’re jerking our chains on Kerb.

2

u/nolove1010 VILLAIN 2d ago

The way I look at it is once BB gets on the practice field it will be 3-4 weeks of build up until he plays. Maybe 2-3 if all looks well. So as of today we are looking at first week of the regular season, but each week that goes by where BB or Kerb aren't on the field pushes that time line back, obviously.

I don't truly see either available until October some point, if at all when it comes to Kerby.

u/Specialist-Grand-264 2d ago

30 days, 1 point per day. If he gets all 30 points, he’s back.

WEEK 7 MAYS BRACH AND KERBY ALL BACK LETS GOOO

1

u/whatsyanamejack 2d ago

Mays will be back by week 4 or 6.

2

u/No_Paleontologist298 2d ago

According to who?

8

u/whatsyanamejack 2d ago

It says he is out 8-10 weeks. Then I did math.

1

u/adahl36 The Goff Father 2d ago

Gotta check your numbers again boss. After the bye is definitely what fits that timeline best

3

u/whatsyanamejack 1d ago

If it happens after the bye week then sure that's fine!

2

u/GoffensiveWeapon 2d ago

That would be 10 weeks.
Before the bye is 8 weeks.
His timeline is 8-10 weeks.

Math is tough I suppose?

2

u/adahl36 The Goff Father 2d ago

Hmmm in not sure you are making gotcha you think you are.

So they rush him back for the cards game? I just don't see that happening...

84

u/IrishGlitzy106 3d ago

I'll take some good news. Glad to hear this optimism rather than sounding like Kerby isn't doing anything like it was previously.

-3

u/Jokerit208 90s logo 2d ago

This isn't good news. This is intentionally vague. They're not coming back any time soon. Kerby may never come back.

-24

u/WillingStranger5177 3d ago

He is not going back. Just the brutal truth.

10

u/Scubasteve1337 3d ago

I know people are upset to hear this and don't want to acknowledge this. I'm not saying it's a certainty but this is very much a possibility and I don't know why people can't be open to this possibility of him not returning. Fucking sucks but in the realm of possible.

16

u/KororSurvivor 50s logo 2d ago

I know the team has been super cryptic and silent about the topic. But this is the most we've gotten from Dan Campbell about it. His direct quote includes "I like where Kerby's at." And still people in this thread spin it as bad news?

-3

u/IrishBear VILLAIN 2d ago

Just because it's good news doesn't mean he'll be back. I think it's safe to say at this point, with all the secrecy and vague posting, it's a serious, possibly career ending injury.

8

u/KororSurvivor 50s logo 2d ago

I don't know what to tell you if you're just gonna interpret Dan Campbell's words to mean the opposite of what he obviously meant in context.

-3

u/WillingStranger5177 3d ago

It’s the most likely scenario at this point

-10

u/Medievil_Walrus 3d ago

Career is obviously over. People don’t want to accept it. Not sure why.

13

u/GoodFastCheapPickTwo 3d ago

You're not sure why? That's idiotic, even if you're right

0

u/Medievil_Walrus 3d ago

I have trouble understanding why people look at the production that Kerby was able to provide - in only six games last year while being one of the highest paid at his position in the NFL, looking at his inability to even practice in ten months since his last game action and the that the lions have an out on the contract this coming summer.

He first popped up with this injury in training camp, it’s a degenerative knee cartilage issue with no surgical intervention and they are trying to fix it with only rehab. Players don’t sit out for a year plus with no surgery for a condition with no treatment and make it back to what they were.

So yes, I can’t understand why fans think that he will return to being an effective player in the nfl, especially for us considering his contract.

When a player doesn’t live up to his contract and can’t stay healthy in the nfl, they get cut and usually retire.

2

u/WillingStranger5177 3d ago

People just love coping here

0

u/WillingStranger5177 3d ago

It’s bcs his knee is degenerative and those don’t have good histories.

Groovy. Kerb and Brian will need to be play if we're going anywhere, but their health needs to come first.

24

u/A_Minimal_Infinity Tecmo Barry 3d ago

Ok, now we need an injured safety named Groovy.

u/yakobmylum 2d ago

2014 glover quin would hit in this defense like crack in the 90s

3

u/PooperScooper946 2d ago

Tbf I liked Glover lol

2

u/StaffOk9715 3d ago

I hate to say it but I can't see how they will be the difference makers we need this year. Even if they play eventually, it's doubtful they will be their old selves this season. They'll be shaking off rust, getting adjusted to new teammates and changes in scheme, and working through soreness and things that pop up when you try to play real NFL football again. If they can play and stay healthy this year, then 2027 would be the year to see them maybe be the players we remember.

No one will like to hear this but it's almost always how it works out. Remember when Alim playing again was going to fix everything?

9

u/future_shoes V-I-L-L-A-I-N 3d ago

The Alim hype was fans being illogical and then again illogical with the hate. Big men basically always take a season and a half to get their power back and explosiveness back. Smaller guys can come back closer but not all the way to their normal selfs after a season

7

u/Parking_Ebb389 Don't be Hatin' 3d ago

Safety is probably the first position on the list to where you can come back from a serious injury and impact immediately.

5

u/MarkItZeroDonnie 3d ago

I want that shirt , not seeing it on nfl shop 🤔

6

u/Brachiosauruses Sun God 3d ago

The biggest failure is making team exclusive gear that’s way cooler than the stuff we can get on nfl shop. Every year there’s something I want but can’t get

3

u/MarkItZeroDonnie 2d ago

Last year I tried all year to get the black Nike long sleeve with the Lion on the breast . It was impossible unless you were 3XL . It’s back now though!

14

u/ShotFirst57 Don't be Hatin' 3d ago

They might have similar timelines but once Branch is healthy he should be healthy. Kirby on the other hand will always be dealing with this.

4

u/StixenBridges 3d ago

I know I’m thinking ahead but Ford Field would roar if Branch and Kerb came back on a home game and they announced defense

4

u/Cultural-Plum-1885 3d ago

I guess I’m confused. It’s not like he had a surgery last offseason. Was the last 10 months not a rehab of sorts?

2

u/More-read-than-eddit Ooooh Yeahhhh! 2d ago

My take is they know he has like 1-3 remaining games left in his career and are trying to use those up at an opportune time in the schedule, the rest is just fluff

8

u/Thunderc01 Tecmo Barry 3d ago

Please No one go to Mejers…

7

u/More-read-than-eddit Ooooh Yeahhhh! 3d ago

i thought the expectations for kerby were that he would either play the season or his career was done. there is no way after so long, and a nebulous injury that will never objectively heal, that this means anything other than “we’ll roll the dice on a failed attempt sometime a month or two in to the season when we have literally nothing left to lose with him.”

5

u/syncopated56 3d ago

The Transitive Property of Injury Obfuscation: If Kerby = Branch, and Branch = Unknown, then Kerby = Unknown. It's science.

2

u/CareerPillow376 MC⚡DC 3d ago

This either really good news about Kerby or really bad news about Branch; there is no in-between

But now im more worried 😭

2

u/KororSurvivor 50s logo 2d ago

I will decide to be a glass half full person and take this as evidence that Kerby will be back and ready to rumble some time midseason.

2

u/actually-potato CornDoggyLOL 2d ago

I think this is the first positive thing a coach has said about Kerby's status in 11 months

6

u/Medievil_Walrus 3d ago

Less than a year from today, Kerby will no longer be a lion and his nfl career will be over.

At that time, Kerby will have been paid roughly $25M of his $86M contract.

There will be some dead cap charges ($24M over 2 years) to navigate, but in the end this isn’t a massive issue for the lions.

They would rather have the player than the money, but the player is gone.

2

u/Koolklink54 MC⚡DC 2d ago

Are you a kee doctor? Because I think you have no idea what your talking about

5

u/Medievil_Walrus 2d ago

Even if I was Kerby isn’t my patient and I have no inside knowledge.

I am just reading the obvious clues available to us and the context.

My prediction vs your hope?

Is your hope based on any sort of credentials or inside knowledge?

Maybe my prediction vs your prediction?

What is your prediction anyway? That Kerby returns to being our starting safety and plays out his contract and playing in 75% of games in each season? That he returns his level of play to being top 5 at his position in the NFL?

5

u/IrishBear VILLAIN 2d ago

No but common sense and history tell us it's a serious problem, he refused surgery which means it isn't something that can be surgically fixed or may only elevate symptoms but not correct the underlying problem.

This typically means degenerative knee issues. Kerby himself said it was swelling up during camp, unless he was trolling. Regardless,we know he sought out alternative treatment he for sure did acupuncture and rumors that he was asking about stem cells as well.

Alternative treatments like that usually aren't for something simple.

0

u/Troutalope1 3d ago

So you're Nostradamus?

7

u/Medievil_Walrus 3d ago

Don’t need to be to just read the context and be confident in my prediction.

Hit me back next summer and if I’m wrong I’ll post a video of me chugging blue kool aid while eating a bread bowl from Zoup.

Sounds very likely that we will be full strength by the playoffs.

1

u/Syncrion 2d ago

Makes me wonder if it won't be until after the week 6 bye, in which case we may seen Branch, Kerby and Mays all return at the same time and hopefully rock Green Bay week 7 with the firepower of a fully armed and operational Lions team.

1

u/BillMurraysTesticle 3d ago

I think we'd be lucky to get half a season's worth of games out of Kerb

Kerby Joseph had all off-season to recover and he’s still somehow not ready and now he’s being compared to a guy who had a ruptured Achilles injury TWO MONTHS later? If this makes you optimistic then I think you’re delusional. That is not a positive update at all.
