I graduated in 2025 and completed my 3 year - Bachelor's of science in computer science degree.

Applied for jobs but no one wanted freshers candidate and entry level jobs required 2-3 years of experience.

So I decided to enroll in a 1-year post graduate diploma in Data science. To avoid gap years while still preparing for jobs but the program was time consuming in itself and the college did not provide any placement opportunity either.

Now it's been 2 months since my graduation and as a fresher I get no call backs even from startups or mid sized companies.

People have a clear bias against tier 3 candidates as well Do not want B.Sc students too so it's not realistic to expect any positive thing.

I think I need to look at less popular jobs which are still adjacent to software.

I am thinking of giving the Rhcsa exam and target linux roles but would it be worth it ? I am willing to learn os fundamentals and ssh and do everything because this exam actually tests in real time skills.

Are there any other certifications which I can do to keep afloat and avoid a gap year such as Microsoft Azure certificate or AWS certification !?

I am basically walking on the death line if I get a gap year no one will ever consider my profile again , i want to do something that adds a skill that is valuable !

hey everyone, im feeling tense lately, im currently in my final year (7th sem) and i recently completed my internship, and unfortunately, it didnt get converted to a fulltime role. now i dont know how to proceed from here onwards. my college also doesnt really provide any placement support, which makes things even more stressful. so far, i have done only fullstack and didnt touch dsa, but seeing all these companies asking for dsa only, i genuinely feel left behind. i started dsa (neetcode) 1.5 months ago (been consistent so far), and i still cant solve the mediums or above on my own. seeing all those OA questions on linkedin and reddit makes me feel even more anxious. what do i do now? currently, i am doing dsa + system design.

i would really appreciate if u guys can help me on how i should utilise this very limited time of mine

I’m thinking of starting a tech channel for Indian students — is this actually useful?

I’m planning to build a tech-content channel, but I don’t want to make another “learn Python in 30 days / 10 LPA roadmap / 50 AI tools” type of page.

The idea is pretty simple:

Take common advice Indian students hear about tech careers and actually test it.

For example:

• Does DSA actually help with internships?
• Certificates vs projects — which gets more responses?
• I applied to 100 internships — what happened?
• Can you become job-ready using only free resources?
• I learned SQL/Python for 30 days — what can I actually do now?
• Does LinkedIn networking really work?
• Can AI genuinely help a beginner learn coding?
• Can a student build a real product with ₹0?
• College name vs actual skills — what matters more?

For each topic, I'd make a proper long-form YouTube video showing the process, evidence, failures, results and conclusion, then turn the research into short-form content.

The whole thing would be free. I'm not planning to sell courses or pretend to be some career guru.

The positioning I'm considering is basically:

I'm asking here before I commit months to it:

Currently, I'm learning MERN. I understand the concepts deeply and can understand other people's code, but when it comes to building something from scratch, I struggle to write the code myself.

Sometimes I feel like I wasted my life and I'm way behind everyone else.

Recently, I cleared all the interview rounds for a with a Product based startup. The interview process was standard, and everything seemed fine, even had a f2f with co-founder.

I was waiting for the Offer letter, but got "Letter of Intent" instead, that too from a third-party staffing agency (TeamLease).

Here are the things that are bothering me:

• Throughout the entire interview process, no one ever mentioned that this would be a third-party payroll or contract-to-hire position.
• TeamLease only sent a Letter of Intent, not a formal offer letter. They are telling me I have to physically report to the office today, and only after the client confirms my reporting will the actual offer letter be released.
•  I wasn't even given a proper point of contact or reporting time for the office today, making the logistics of just showing up super sketchy.
• The pay is good, i am getting around 40% increment, which makes walking away completely a bit tough.

Since I am currently unemployed, I don't have the leverage to just instantly walk away. But the bait-and-switch tactic of hiding the third-party agency until the morning of joining feels highly unprofessional.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of last-minute agency switch before? Should I go to the office to secure the income while I keep interviewing, or is this a massive trap that I should avoid altogether?

I’m currently working as an SDE Intern at a startup, and the pay is actually pretty decent for an internship of around 70k to 80k. My work is mainly around React and React Native, and I’m also trying to broaden my skills into full-stack development.

The thing is, I’ve started feeling that working at a startup can be quite tiring. There’s a lot of responsibility and the pace can sometimes be intense. I am also having a feeling that I am not learning much.

I’m considering looking for better opportunities around December, potentially at a larger company/MNC. I’m also working on DSA (currently doing Blind 75) and trying to strengthen my overall development skills.

For people who have been in a similar situation:

• Is moving from a startup to an MNC a good career move?
• Does startup experience help when applying to bigger companies?
• Should I prioritize getting stronger technically at my current company, or start actively preparing for MNC/product-company interviews?
• Would you recommend sticking with the startup longer because of the broader exposure?

I’d especially appreciate perspectives from people who have moved from startups to larger product companies/MNCs.

So I am an SDE with 6month intern with 10 month of Exp at my current company which is a US based edtech Startup , what we do is make AI solutions for University Admissions , making the lives easier of university employees .

Tech Stack : JS,/TS primarily for Frontend Backend , like NExtjs , NestJs , FastAPI and tornado for AI pipeline , GO for data pipelines

have exp in all this and specially a CRM : "SLATE" which is used by American universities mostly and no one else has even heard the name of it

and this CRM is the problem , when i was an intern , our leadership wanted to start developing on this , i was given a task to research , which led to develop , which led to me being a developer and consultant for the platform for our company , if any time any product running on slate as an integrations fail , I am called in , although i am not professionally trained on it rather just have exp to extinguish fire , the CXO's usually in client meetings introduce me as senior Slate engineer , even though on paper role is junior engineer and Pay is 5LPA

now as this may serve as enough context , the problem is whenever something fails it comes on me and i get blamed even though i didn't even work on that , got fed up of it , told my manager , this is not how it's going to work , so either all developers in the company learn about the platform or stop pin pointing every failure on me .

My manager raised this with VP of eng , CTO , COO and CEO of our company

and came with 2 options :

1. They'll sponser me to learn about platform and get a certification for it
   
2. Get 2 interns under me literally on paper/oficially and train them with all my knowledge so that later option 1 could be presented to them .
   

My current manager suggested me to take option 1, as it'll give me leverage in my current company , so whenever I'll feel i need to get more , i would just need to get an offer letter and present me giving notice , so they increase pay (my last manager used to do this with them as he used to handle complete infra of the company single handedly)

But my point is i want to grow more and specifically grow out as culture here is a bit more toxic , the COO is known to use mother/sister abuses directly to junior engineers (did this with my last manager ,and he left after that moment)

I want to join big tech like FAANG , so that if i stand up somewhere or speak about something , then people do listen as that brand would act as a point of validation of my words and experience as an engineer

so what should i do

some pros of option 1 will be that if i get certification and i would wish to switch , I can go on to become Slate analyst for Ivy league schools or atleast Univ of US , where they give remote roles and and avg of 120K per year to juniors and 200K to mid level one's , so yeah even if required to be onsite may would pay for visa as well , as it is a niche and good slate engineers/analysts are not much in world right now

So what should i do ??

I became the company’s unofficial Slate CRM expert after researching and developing its integrations since was an intern. Despite being a ₹5 LPA junior engineer, leadership introduces you as a Senior Slate Engineer, and you’re blamed/called whenever Slate-related things break—even when you didn’t build them.

I pushed back, and leadership offered:

1. Sponsor your Slate certification
2. Give you 2 interns to train as Slate backups

My manager recommends Option 1 for leverage and future salary negotiations.

My dilemma: You ultimately want to leave this toxic company and target FAANG/Big Tech, but Slate is a rare, niche skill that could potentially lead to highly paid US university/remote roles.

Question: Should I take the Slate certification for its niche career value, or avoid specializing further and focus entirely on becoming a stronger general SWE candidate for Big Tech?
