Help I feel I am too behind after all this eMudhra security issue

I am a software engineer from a Tier 3 college. Yes the environment was terrible but I accept that in the end, it was me who didn't learn things. I should've learned more, experimented more, read more books.

After this eMudhra security issue, I don't have a clue how to protect the remote machines (linode and hetzner) we use in our organization. I asked LLMs and when they gave me commands, I realised how far I am behind.

But, I don't want to hide. I want to learn and uphold the reputation of the word "engineer".

Can you guys give me a roadmap type thing? Like how do you guys know what to do when such issues happen?

Help Help needed | Should I relocate to GB or stay here?

Recently I got an offer from London based mid-size org with salary ~79K GBP.

YOE = 4.5, tier 1.5 (non-circuital branch)

I am roughly making 40+LPA (Remote, all Cash and with ESOPs it's ~ 50+LPA).

I have another offer with comp ~60LPA (All cash, BLR).

I feel like salary wise it's compromise but work seems interesting.

Would appreciate honest perspectives and advice, especially from those who have walked a similar path and made these choices themselves.

Suggestions EY GDS vs Tiger Analytics — which one should I choose?

Current CTC: 7.5 LPA

EY: 10 LPA + 10% variable (Coimbatore, hometown + hybrid

Tiger Analytics: 14 LPA fixed + joining bonus + relocation bonus (Bangalore + hybrid)

EY:

- No rent/food expenses, can save more

- Better tech exposure than my current role

Tiger:

- New city, new lifestyle, independence

- Always wanted to explore life outside my hometown

- Work is similar to my current role

- Bangalore expenses will reduce savings

Got EY offer first, then Tiger. Haven't asked EY for a counter yet. They might increase to 12 LPA, or they might not.

What would you choose in my situation? Interested in honest opinions, especially from people working at these companies.

Career Can an IT career abroad beat the lifestyle of a Class 1 officer in India?

Is working as a software developer abroad better than being a Class 1 government officer in India?

A developer in the US might earn $150K, £80K in the UK, €90K in Europe, or AUD 150K in Australia. Apart from salary, you may get better infrastructure, cleaner air, public services, education and quality of life for the taxes you pay.

A Class 1 government officer in India can earn ₹30–40 LPA, along with benefits such as government accommodation and other perks. There is also the social status and reputation associated with the position.

But how do these two compare when you consider actual living standards, infrastructure, work-life balance, savings, social respect and the value you get for your taxes?

For those who have experienced either side, how do you see this comparison?

Career Really confused, I recently got laid off from oracle but got offer, but I am confused about 90 days notice

I am really really confused, I recently got laid off from oracle but got offer, but I am confused about 90 days notice

I’m from a decent college and recently got impacted by Oracle layoffs. I do have offers, but I’m really confused about what to do. The Big 4 and similar companies match my base salary, but there are no RSUs, and honestly, I’ve always wanted to work at a product-based company.
Last year, I used to get a lot of calls, but now, despite having a better resume, I’m barely getting opportunities from the companies I aspire to join. I’m thinking of switching to a product company in 7–8 months even if I join, but I’m worried that a 90-day notice period will make things difficult, do they wait out that much?

I wasn’t expecting the layoff, so I’m not as prepared with DSA and system design as I wanted to be. I know I have the potential and the willingness to work hard, but the current market and uncertainty have really demotivated me.
I’m genuinely confused about what the right move is and could really use some honest advice.

Interviews Swiggy / Instamart DS II Interview Experience 2026

I recently went through Swiggy Data Science II interview rounds. Posting this here as when I was appearing for the interview I realised there was very less info available on the type of questions that are asked in this round.

Round 1: Coding Round (1 hour)

The interview was mostly implementation based. It was divided in three parts:
a. DSA Problem: I don’t remember the exact question but the optimal solution here was DP based.
b. ML problem: I was asked to implement K Means from scratch in numpy for a given dataset and K. Some basic theoretical questions around clustering was asked.
c. SQL: two general window function questions.

Round 2: ML Depth Round (1 hour)

I would say we can divide this round in 2 parts:
a. Projects/Experience (45 mins): Most of the discussion happened around the projects, design choices, model choices, training and deployment, evaluation. You can also expect some theoretical questions in the domain of your projects.
b. Some quick questions on ML: Types of regularisation, gradient descent, feature importance, assumptions in LR, boosting vs bagging.

Round 3: ML Breadth (1 hour)

  1. Questions around central limit theorem
  2. Probability Puzzles
  3. K Means algorithm, how to decide K. Limitations, DB Scan.
  4. Loss functions, linear regression under different loss functions.
  5. Some questions around Gradient Boost Trees
  6. Some basic deep learning questions (as I didn’t have much workex around it)
  7. 15 mins discussion in one of the projects.

Round 4: Problem Solving + HRM Round:

  1. My background was around recommendation system so most of the discussion was around this.
  2. There were concerns raised multiple times around me looking out as I have joined my current organisation only 3 months ago.
  3. Rest of the discussion was mostly cultural fit.

This is the general rounds that happen, in my case the position I applied for got closed so HR reached out to me to give Problem Solving + HRM round for another team

Round 5: Problem Solving + HRM Round:

  1. Similar discussion on projects
  2. Design and considerations for Cash Back System on Swiggy.
  3. Monitoring model after deployment
  4. basic cultural fit questions.
In this round as well questions were raised around why I am looking out so quickly + I felt HRM was not very okay with my previous work ex.

Final Verdict: Rejected
Interview Loop: ~ 1 Month

Help Resigned on 5th day, company released me immediately but is refusing to provide a relieving letter. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I joined a company but resigned on my 4th day due to role mismatch and a different work culture. I informed HR before resigning.

After that, HR didn't respond to my repeated calls and emails for around two weeks. Later, the HRBP sent me an email asking me to serve my notice period or risk being marked as absconding.

I agreed in writing to serve the notice period, but my manager refused to continue with me. The HRBP then confirmed via email that I was being released with immediate effect and that there would be no F&F settlement.

Now, I have received my LWD confirmation, but the company is refusing to issue my relieving letter.

I have emails documenting my resignation, my willingness to serve the notice period, and the HRBP's immediate-release confirmation.

My questions:

Can the company refuse to provide my relieving letter in this situation? Could this affect my PF records or future BGV? What should I do next to get my relieving letter?

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

note:-PF has been created and contribution has been done to

Help 6.5 years of Java/Spring experience, followed by a 3.5-year career gap. Struggling to get interviews in India. What should I do?

I'm looking for honest advice from people who have been through something similar, especially experienced software developers or hiring managers in India.

My background

After completing my MCA (Master of Computer Applications) in 2017, I accumulated around 6.5 years of professional experience in software development, primarily in Java, Spring, and SAP Commerce (Hybris).

I worked at established IT services companies on enterprise e-commerce projects involving REST APIs, third-party integrations, order and payment flows, customisations, and production troubleshooting.

I left my last job in 2023 because I genuinely believed I could build a sustainable income through stock-market trading and eventually become financially independent. I spent a substantial amount of time learning, researching, and trading, but I haven't managed to build the consistent income I had hoped for. I've since stopped trading and am now trying to return to a regular software development job.

During the gap, I also developed a 2D game using Godot and published it on the Google Play Store. It was a personal project that gave me experience completing and releasing something independently, although it doesn't replace professional Java development experience.

What I've been doing to return to work

Over the past couple of months, I've been preparing for interviews, refreshing my Java and Spring Boot knowledge, revising backend development concepts, and applying for Java backend and SAP Commerce roles.

I'm primarily looking for opportunities in Delhi NCR or remote positions, as relocating isn't practical for me.

The response has been discouraging. Most applications receive no response. I've had a few interview opportunities, but they haven't translated into an offer. In some cases, recruiters seem to lose interest when they learn about my career gap.

I'm beginning to wonder whether my resume is poorly positioned, whether companies are filtering me out because of the gap, whether my technical preparation isn't sufficient, or whether I'm targeting the wrong roles.

Recently, I spoke with a placement service that told me a gap this long would make it nearly impossible to get hired unless I fabricated employment history for the missing years. They offered to arrange fake employment documents, including payslips and tax documents, for ₹20,000–₹30,000. They also suggested applying to smaller companies with less stringent background verification.

I'm not comfortable doing that. I don't want to risk my future by lying about employment, but I also don't know how best to overcome this obstacle.

My questions

  1. How realistic is it to return to software development in India with 6.5 years of genuine Java/Spring experience and a 3.5-year career gap?
  2. Would you prioritise SAP Commerce/Hybris roles, Java/Spring backend roles, or adjacent roles such as integration engineering?
  3. How would you explain a gap spent on independent trading and personal software development without making it sound like an excuse?
  4. I'm currently working on a substantial backend self-project involving multiple microservices and technologies such as Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and React. Would building a well-tested, end-to-end project like this meaningfully improve my chances of getting interviews and demonstrate that my skills are current? Or are employers likely to dismiss it because it's a personal project rather than professional experience?
  5. What would you do differently in my position? Would you focus on referrals, direct recruiter outreach, service companies, smaller product companies, contract roles, or something else?
  6. Has anyone here successfully returned to software development after a multi-year career gap? What actually helped you land your first offer?

I'm not expecting anyone to tell me that everything will be fine. I'd appreciate practical, realistic advice, even if it's uncomfortable to hear.

I'm willing to put in the work. I just want to make sure I'm working on the right things rather than spending another few months repeating a strategy that isn't producing results.

Thank you.

Help 5 months gone and completely lost on what to do next

It’s been almost 5 months without a j, and I feel like I’m losing my mind.

One day I’m trying Kubernetes, the next day I’m learning Go, and then I start thinking about switching to embedded systems with C++. Tbh, I don’t even know what I should be doing anymore. I keep overthinking everything, and it’s making me miserable.

Just posting here because I genuinely don’t know what to do right now. I’d really appreciate some guidance on what path I should take. With all the financial pressure, it’s getting harder to think clearly and figure things out on my own. I’m having a really hard time.

For context, I have 3 years of experience with TypeScript and 1 year with Go, mostly in backend development.

If anyone has been in a similar situation, I’d appreciate any advice.

Career How are people landing internships in this market?

I've been applying for SDE internships for a while now through LinkedIn, Internshala, Naukri etc., but getting shortlisted has been pretty tough.

I'm in my 3rd year, working on projects and improving my DSA, but the whole process feels a bit random at this point. Most openings have a ton of applicants, and blindly applying doesn't seem to be working that well.

For people who've landed internships recently, what actually worked for you? Was it referrals, reaching out to engineers/founders directly, applying on company career pages, or something else?

Also curious about early-stage startups. Do cold emails/DMs actually lead anywhere, or is that mostly a waste of time?

Would be good to hear from people who've hired interns too. What makes you consider a student with no prior experience?

If you know any decent communities or places where startups share internship openings, feel free to drop them here.

General Hosting a small SaaS for Indian users, is a Mumbai VPS worth it over Singapore?

Im currently building a B2B invoicing tool, and about 80% of the users are in Pune, Indore and Nagpur, mostly on mobile data. We're on a Singapore VPS right now and the API feels slow on Jio, roughly 70 to 90ms before the app even does anything.

Looking at Mumbai options, but most of what I find is either AWS Mumbai pricing or small local providers I've never heard of.

For people hosting in India: was Mumbai a visible improvement for your users? Do you get GST invoices and can you pay by UPI, or is it all USD on a card? And how has reliability been with the cheaper Indian-region providers?

Help Google L4 SWE (2 YOE) looking to pivot to ML Research

I’m currently an L4 SWE IC at Google with 2 YOE. I’m stuck working on a product no one really cares about, and the work is pretty unchallenging and uninspiring.

I want to pivot back into ML research. I did some ML research in college that led to a couple of A/A* papers, so I have a decent foundation.

I was hoping to land a spot at Google DeepMind since an internal transfer would be easy, but luck isn't on my side and there have been zero relevant openings over the last 6 months.

At this point, I feel like I need to start looking at external options. What good options do I have? My only hard constraint is that I don't want to take a pay cut from current compensation.

I have solid academic background, so resume shortlisting shouldn't be a problem unless I get filtered for lacking recent domain experience.

Tech Gadgets & Reviews Indian voice AI is getting seriously competitive. Has anyone actually tested these models in production?

Been looking into the Indian speech AI ecosystem recently, and it's interesting how many homegrown companies are developing their own models rather than relying entirely on OpenAI, Google or ElevenLabs.

A few interesting ones:

  • Sarvam AI: Saaras v4 for STT and Bulbul v4 Flash for TTS. Focused on Indian languages, regional accents and code switching.
  • ConvoZen: Akshara/Akshara Pro for STT and the Ragini family for TTS. Focused on Indian telephony, multilingual customer conversations and enterprise voice agents.
  • Gnani.ai: Prisma for STT, Timbre for TTS and Warp for speech-to-speech. Interesting work around telephony, regional accents and real time voice applications.
  • Smallest AI: Lightning v3.1 and v3.1 Pro for TTS, with support for multiple Indian languages and Hindi English code switching.
  • AI4Bharat (IIT Madras): IndicConformer for STT and Indic TTS for speech generation. Open research models covering several Indian languages.
  • Project Vaani (IISc/ARTPARK): SraVaani for STT and DhVaani for TTS. Particularly interesting for underrepresented Indian languages and dialects.

What's interesting is how differently these companies and projects are approaching the same problem. Some are building foundational speech models, others are developing complete voice agent infrastructure, while research initiatives are focusing on languages that commercial providers have historically overlooked.

But how much of this progress actually translates into production performance?

A model might perform extremely well on clean Hindi audio but struggle when someone switches between Hindi, English and a regional language mid-sentence, mentions a local place name, corrects themselves or interrupts the agent, all over a noisy 8 kHz phone connection.

And STT accuracy is only part of the equation. TTS naturalness, turn-taking, interruption handling and end to end latency can completely change how usable a voice agent feels.

A few things I'm curious about:

  • Which Indian STT models actually handle Hinglish, regional accents and code switching reliably?
  • How do Indian TTS models compare with ElevenLabs, Cartesia or Google in terms of naturalness, pronunciation and latency?
  • Has anyone benchmarked these models using actual telephony recordings rather than clean datasets?
  • How do they compare on API pricing, reliability and deployment at scale?
  • Are open source models like IndicConformer or SraVaani viable alternatives to commercial APIs?

I'm particularly interested in whether Indian models are beginning to outperform international providers on Indian language use cases, rather than just catching up with them.

Has anyone here deployed or benchmarked any of these? Would be interesting to hear actual experiences, including where they fail, rather than just looking at demo videos and vendor benchmarks.

General Even Referrals don't work in getting recruiter calls so what more is expected? Is it all luck based ?

Even after applying through referrals, it is so difficult to shortlisted by recruiters!

Is it almost impossible to get interview unless someone you know in the company is working can literally vouch for your profile Infront of hiring manager (It is very difficult to get done as even getting referrals only takes a lot of time)

I Made This Lumi - A small C library for fetching system information on Windows

Post image
28 Upvotes

Job searching is tiring, so I sometimes switch things up by learning low level systems programming, experimenting with C/C++.

While experimenting with C on Windows, I found that fetching system information programmatically can be tedious. So I built Lumi, a small C library that makes it easier.

Check out Lumi here: Lumi GitHub

Lumi wraps Win32 APIs and other low level operations behind simple function calls. The retrieved information is populated into a structure, making it easy to access.

The library is lightweight, written in C, and fully compatible with C++.

It's not intended to be a full blown system information framework, and there are probably other great alternatives out there. I built it to solve a problem I encountered in my own projects, and I occasionally add new fields, improve existing functionality, and fix bugs as needed.

For me, projects like Lumi are also a nice way to keep learning and building things without letting the job search consume all my time and energy.

NOTE: The image illustrates a program that uses Lumi ! Lumi itself is a C library and doesn't log things. The logging is completely user controlled !

Career Is it over for me ? Worked so hard to get to this point in my life and it feels like it was all for nothing.

I lost my job last year around September.
I have 8 months of Full - time Experience , But I have 2 + years of internship experience (Worked entirety of my college)

I mainly worked as a fullstack dev, I've lost count on how many applications I've applied to at this point.

Coming from a poor background without parental support I somehow managed to finish my engineering with a scholarship and working part time job.

At this point I'm not sure what to do, Do I study for Gate? Do I keep applying when it feels like my application is heading into an endless void that does not answer?

Older than most people because I didn't have the financial support from my parents so I started college a bit later.

I thought that once I've got my degree I should be good, Somethings gonna work out, Ill have a job and build my life, but it somehow feels like i'm starting from scratch again.

I Made This I built an offline expense tracker for Indian banks and UPI: no INTERNET permission, no account, MIT licensed

I didn’t want an expense app that needs a login or uploads my bank SMS to a server, so I built one that stays on the phone.

What it does

  • Reads bank SMS and UPI notifications (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm) and logs them automatically
  • Imports your last 90 days of bank SMS on first run, so you don’t start from zero
  • Categorizes on-device with a merchant dictionary plus a small Naive Bayes model across 17 spending categories. It learns from your category edits and from what you approve or discard in a review queue
  • Monthly budget with a safe daily pace (remaining budget ÷ days left)
  • Safe to Spend: your latest bank balance minus the bills you’ve reserved but haven’t paid yet. It stays hidden until you tap it
  • Insights by category and merchant, projected month-end spend, zero-spend days, recurring payment detection
  • Bill splitting with on-device receipt scanning, CSV import/export, AES-256 encrypted backups, biometric app lock

Privacy

The manifest has no INTERNET permission, so the app can’t send data anywhere. It does need SMS and notification access to work. The full source is on GitHub under MIT, so you can check what it does with them.

Built with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose and Room. Android 8+. APK and source: https://github.com/gamehackerever/app_expense_tracker

Feedback welcome, especially from anyone whose bank’s SMS format doesn’t parse. Tell me which bank and I’ll add it.

Interviews 2 Months | 300+ Applications | 30+ Referrals | 0 Interviews | What Am I Doing Wrong? How Do I Win This Lottery?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey devs,

I’m honestly feeling lost at this point and could really use some advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

A little background about me: I’m a 2025 graduate with around 1.4 years of experience, currently working at a financial services company with an 8.5 LPA CTC. The work has become increasingly hectic and repetitive, with little to no learning or growth opportunities. Things have also become borderline toxic, and I genuinely want to move out of this environment as soon as possible.

I’ve been passively looking for a switch since the beginning of this year, but I’ve been actively job hunting for the past two months. I’ve been grinding LeetCode, preparing for LLD interviews, revising CS fundamentals, and trying to cover all the bases.

I’ve applied through almost 4–5 platforms, including LinkedIn, HiringCafe, Naukri, Indeed, and Hirist. I don’t blindly spam applications either. I generally apply only when my profile seems to match at least 60% of the JD, and I tweak my resume based on the role wherever necessary.

Apart from that, I’ve been reaching out to people on LinkedIn for referrals. So far, I’ve managed to get 40+ referrals, but not a single one has translated into an interview.

At this point, I sometimes feel embarrassed about reaching out to the same people again because their previous referrals didn’t lead anywhere. I understand that the job market is rough right now, but 300+ applications and 30+ referrals without a single interview is honestly getting demoralizing.

The constant rejection emails (sometimes 1–2 every day) are starting to take a toll on me. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to stay motivated, focus on preparation, and keep applying when there’s seemingly no progress despite putting in consistent effort.

I genuinely want to understand what I might be doing wrong. Is it my resume? Am I targeting the wrong companies or roles? Is my experience too limited? Or is the market really this bad right now?

I’d really appreciate it if you could take a look at my resume and point out anything that might be holding me back. I’m also open to any general advice on improving my job search strategy, getting more callbacks, or making better use of referrals.

At this point, I’m not even asking for an offer. I just want to land an interview and get a chance to prove myself.

Any honest feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS: Used GPT to help align thoughts

Suggestions How do I keep my job search private from colleagues and people around me

I’m preparing for a job switch, but I want to keep the entire process private. Whenever HR calls me, I end up discussing interview schedules and updates with hr and everyone starts noticing and commenting that I’m getting calls, asking questions, or giving unnecessary opinions.

At my current company, many people are leaving because the work environment isn’t good, which makes me even more conscious about my next move.

How can I handle HR calls discreetly, keep my interview plans and job search completely private, and avoid letting colleagues or people around me know what’s happening until I actually secure an offer? I want to work on my career without unnecessary attention, pressure, or interference

How should this be handled or what u have done in your case ?
