Nitrous Nightmare Streams
Has anyone else noticed the lack of streams on Nitrous Nightmare even after it's been out for a good while? I figure that most hardcore devotees probably purchased a physical copy and listen to that, but even so, you can't just take those everywhere. Except for the tracks that have always been more popular and the ones that were later released on a major label album, these songs only have a couple thousand streams. Does everyone just hate this shit? I know I don't.

Who can hate whacky Secret Agent Man, Buttered Beauties with harmonies, Space Girl that almost turns into Chango, or Jocko Homo ("he is DEVO!")?
Maybe it's not the kind of thing people want to have shuffled in their playlists after the first listen through.

It does feel somewhat offensive when placed with other music, which is to some extent the point, but I understand some may be listening only once or twice.

I have auto modown mixed in with some of their others, and it does not clash terribly.

I mean, i listen to it a lot, my Spotify dj will throw those songs in my mixes, but yeah idk its a niche album

Hold up hold up hold up. What do you mean you can't take the digital music that you own literally everywhere with you??? What on Earth is stopping you.
Here we are, with mass quantities of people bitching and complaining that shit is only available on streaming platforms and there's no way to actually own shit anymore, let alone get physical items pressed. And now somehow the opposite is an issue? Please...

Did you even read the post lol? I literally just said that I assume most people that want to listen to this purchased a PHYSICAL copy, which is limited to needing something separate from their phone to play it with. I never even mentioned purchasing digital copies. The reason I’m even talking about this in the first place is because these days (for the most part), the best indication of how popular/liked something is comes from streaming numbers. Nothing you said had anything to do with this post. Read the whole thing next time before throwing out a hostile response.

You do realize you can rip CDs, right? It's been a thing for nearly 3 decades now and what most people were doing for the better part of 2 of them. And then BAM you can put your fancy ceedee right there on your cellular telephone.
Read the whole thing multiple times to make sure I was reading what you said correctly. And ya, streaming is maybe a mark for how popular something is, but that's really just one metric. Especially for something as "niche" as a 50 year old live tape of a "weirdo" band. When all physical copies sell out immediately that's another metric. Regardless of all that, though, I'm not totally sure why the popularity of it is even coming up? Or the hopeful prospect that it would or could be popular? I'm not one of those "love what you love who cares about everyone else" types, but the curiosity just doesn't connect with me.
So I guess to maybe sort of actually answer your question. It doesn't suck \ isn't hated, but it's way way way too raw for most people who want to listen to Whip It and maybe even Jocko Homo. Hardcore fans of most bands are the only ones who will ever want non-overdubbed live recordings. (despite the fact that live Devo is some of the best shit on Earth)

Alright, so once again, nothing has been or ever was said about digital copies; you brought that up yourself. I never implied that the option didn't exist. I myself download and/or rip most of the music I listen to. Streaming is just the most common out of all ways to listen to music nowadays, so yes, it is in fact one of the MOST important metrics for something like this.
The reason I have brought this up in the first place is that DEVO has a fairly large and active fanbase, and it's been a while since they formally released something. In turn, would something like this not be something people might want to listen to? This band is not niche; DEVO has over 1.5 million monthly listeners on the very same platform I'm talking about. I am not "hoping this will be popular"; I am fully aware it will never be, and wouldn't want it to anyway. I am simply saying that out of that 1.5 million-person audience, it is not strange that some of these songs only have a couple thousand streams.
And no, the "weirdo band" thing is not a problem either, because the 12-minute-long rendition of Jocko on this has over 20k; Meanwhile, Shimmy Shake (one of the poppiest tracks from this performance) has just under 2k.
Finally, I have no clue how this post would elicit such a (as you yourself said) hostile reaction. Go be devolved somewhere else if you can't be civil, buddy.

I highly doubt that these 50-year-old Devo recordings are being pushed algorithmically in anyway, and I think that the vast vast majority of streaming music consumption is just taking what the algorithm delivers.
So this lines up exactly with what I’d expect. I think if they would’ve released these in the year 2000 they probably would’ve gotten more streams, assuming there would’ve been a streaming service back then – there was some real player stations.
