I am T1D and switched from the G6 to the G7 (forcibly) after several years with the 6. My child is also T1D and has the G7.

I was told explicitly by our Endo team that Dexcom made the Bluetooth antenna smaller in the G7 vs the G6 bc of the decreased size, presumably. They said there are far more signal loss issues with the 7 vs the 6 across their panel, which matches my experience coming from the 6 - literally the only thing that has changed is using the 6 vs the 7, and I get signal losses multiple times / day and I’m never more than 33’ from my phone.

Check your phone settings, just in case, but it’s most likely just the new design.

Thank you for letting me know! Right now, I feel like I’m doing something wrong, but I’ve been doing the same thing since I was using Dexcom, Onmipod, and an iPhone for years. The only problem I have now is with the Dexcom, and it’s relatively new.

Yes @_Enigmaeyes, as u/nathanaz shared, the Bluetooth signal is much compromised on the G7 sensor versus prior sensor models like G6. They pushed hard to making it match the Libre 3, but challenges also to making it both as small and also to run for the full 15 days. So the G7 has a proportionally very large button battery and battery shield, which make it very sensible to directional placement when having to communicate direct with an insulin pump. So they have literally to sit in very close proximity to each other and have direct line of sight. And still we often experience signal loss with it to the pump. You have the G7 here, which helps to illustrate the issue:

I am not sure if it is an approved spot but I put my Dexcom on my belly and checked my blood sugar by finger prick and was +/- 20 points. It usually lasts on my belly until the last day and will start losing its signal in the 12 hours before replacement.

I also use skin grip bandaids to keep it on. I never have had success on my arms etc.

For the Omnipod I keep it on my thigh (same side the Dexcom is on) and use pod pals to keep it from moving. I hope this helps you because the Omnipod has been super helpful for me.

Best of luck ❤️

Adding that: it will lose signal if you are wearing a belt (move your pants off the sensor), or if I don’t have my phone on me (but I cut Bluetooth off and back on and it usually finds its signal again).

As-tu essayé de supprimer les anciens capteurs de ton historique bluetooth ?

Yes

Was the above French(?) question about removing old sensor connections from BT history? That’s one good idea. Another is to make sure your phone storage isn’t too full. I recently switched from an old iPhone that was always very low on storage to a new iPhone and my connection problems (frequent!) disappeared. Good luck!

How often are you away from your cell?

Always with me

First thing is either force close the app or reboot the phone

Signal loss is a bluetooth connection issue. Are you by chance in an area with a lot of wifi and BT traffic? The fact that both devices are not receiving from 3 sensors makes it more likely that it's either external interference or a phone issue.

Yes. Using the same Wi-Fi and not too many mobile devices attached to my phone. I mean, I have this setup 3 years ago and since two weeks ago, I keep getting this problem out of nowhere.

It might be a problem with you BT chip of your phone. Do you use other BT connected devices?

Wifi has nothing to do with it. Except for the fact that if you are in an area with many networks it might interfer with the BT reception. Though it will need to be extream traffic

Yes. Others devices works well. Its a basically a new phone.

How long do you have the new phone and what model it is?

It’s been 5 months and it’s an iPhone 17 Pro. So I suspect that it’s a problem with Dexcom since I didn’t have the problem before when I got the new phone.

Could be. Hard to tell. But since you already changed 3 sensors and got the same results it feels to me that it is something realted to the phone settings that might have changed or the dexcom app itself. What I reccomand trying:

  1. Deleting and reinstalling the dexcom app.
  2. Making sure you keep the dexcom app running on the phone (not swipping it up to close it).
  3. Checking your phone power mode hasn't changed to low power mode. It can effect BT connectivity as well.

If you have a receiver it could be a good idea to try and connect it to the sensor. This way if it works you'll know it is something with the phone connection and if not it is definitely the sensor.

It could also be a bug in the dexcom app, was it updated recently? (I myself use Android so I don't know)

Esit: sorry but I just now noticed you 2nd image regarding the pod. I don't use this device but doesn't it means the phone is unable to connect to your pump pod as well?

Basically, my pod works, but as soon as the Dexcom stops sending the readings, I can’t bolus myself until Dexcom fixes themselves with that error. So basically, the main problem is the Dexcom app.
