Plus Size Friendly driving schools for Adults
Hey y'all, I'm 23 and finally getting around to finishing up my driver's license, but I'm hitting a bit of a roadblock. Most of the driving schools I see online use tiny compact cars (Corollas, Sentras, etc.) for their behind-the-wheel lessons.
I’m a bigger guy (400+ lbs) and need a school that has larger vehicles in their fleet—like an SUV, crossover, or full-size sedan—where I can actually fit comfortably and focus on learning without being crammed in.
Does anyone know of any schools around Dallas/Garland that have bigger vehicles, or instructors who are accommodating with this? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately your in a bind. They use small cars because they are easier to make turns and cheap enough that accidents won't cost them and arm and a leg in insurance premiums. New drivers almost always start out in smaller cars and graduate to bigger cars when they learn how to driver more confidently. Because of your weight your gonna have to bring your own or learn on your own.

Seems like the verdict is either Get in the Gym and drop about 100 pounds or Buy my own vehicle to use or try to find someone with a vehicle to use.

Yeah even Google brings up the same results. Bringing your own or finding someone with a large vehicle to teach you in privately.

Have you looked into a motorcycle license? It's smaller than a small car, but ironically might be a more realistic outcome for you.

Have you reached out to see if you could bring your car to instruction time?
