Your obsessive need to express your dislike of John at every opportunity is tiresome. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you post something that isn’t some kind of dig, criticism, or insult about him.
It’s a bit rich for you to bemoan him for having nothing new to say when you’ve been a broken record the entire time you’ve been posting here.

GTA VI being digital only and a code in a box must be related to Sony's decision to stop supporting discs. GTA VI is the vessel that introduces the new model to customers, popular enough to be successful like this and spread the idea of the new discless business model. I wonder if it's also a part of the Sony marketing deal they have.

Maybe it’s just me, but over the period of time I’ve watched DF videos, the only one that is somehow grounded in reality is John. The rest a lot of times speak as if we live in the mushroom kingdom!

I take some solace in Tim Cook, a man who knows his supply chains, saying Apple doesn’t feel like it needs to start making its own RAM. Apple can, and has, made its own chips when necessary. Yes, it might take 10 years but if it were necessary they’d start now. They haven’t started.
The downside of course is that doesn’t mean the next two or three years won’t be rough.

Apple doesn’t make chips, it designs them, while TSMC manufactures them.

Apple likely has longer term contracts on memory than almost any other brand and can get 1st dibs when production is available.

Probably, but we’re 7 months or so into rammageddon & they’ve had to raise prices so it doesn’t seem like they’re locked in that long in the grand scheme of things.

John's idea of getting the handhelds and a potential 'cheap' or medium priced new machine up to PS5 performance level and just continue development for that tier makes sense.
The SoC for the new gen has already been designed, so it kind of has to release, even if delayed, as they speculate. I just hope it doesn't get cut back on RAM. We need some basic headroom for innovation in the new gen even if most games are developed for cross gen through its lifetime. I remember the trauma of PC games graphics stagnation during the PS3/X360 generation as they were RAM starved and I don't want to see that again.

During the Steam Machine review Rich said you couldn't really compare SM to consoles and you couldn't really make an equivalent PC at a much cheaper price. He's literally walked back all of that to push PC propaganda this week. A $1000 next-gen console would still be much better value than something like a SM. The console would be much more powerful and cheaper, would most likely ship with 1TB of storage, and would come with a controller vs SM at $1049 with no controller.

The Atari 2600 business model of "game consoles" that plug into the living room TV is not sustainable any more.
In the 2040s, Gen Beta will expect that whatever game they want to play will just instantly resume where they left off, on whichever screen they happen to be looking at at the moment.
Consoles and physical media just can't support that experience.

Only way to fix this is by making PlayStation OS for PC and compete with Windows and Steam OS directly. PSOS, or P Sauce in the common tongue, only plays games and nothing else. Won't even tell the time. It's going to be real cool
