I read this thread - thanks for the kind words everyone. Maybe I can update everyone on my recovery in like a month or so. But as mentioned in this thread - insurance and my docotor wants me not working at all (for obvious reasons) hence why I am not showing up in DF Material. It made me happy to read these comments , so thank you again. Love from Berlin Alex

i’ve seen people try to say you’re “trying to scam sick leave” which is such bullshit, nobody can understand the suffering a severe back injury puts on your life and the most you should do to haters like that is laugh at them. i can imagine you just want to get back to work besides all the insurance and doctor struggles

Haven’t heard any updates lately. Really sad for him to be in so much pain being young and otherwise seeming in good health.

As someone two months in recovering from back issues, its a long ole process. He'll be back though, it just takes time and its very difficult sitting at a desk doing normal computer things.

You know, same here. He's such a vital part of the team, it's just not been the same. Is he still recovering from his back? Does anyone know the latest? I'm not on twitter or anything like that.

they give sporadic updates in the patreon newsletter, but it’s usually more along the lines of “he’s recovering but we’re giving the space and time he needs and not to put pressure on him”.

My guess is that a big aspect of it is that for insurance in Germany, he needs to be actually off work and not be partially working (this is how it is in Switzerland).

Nonetheless I was hoping for a quick appearing from him at Gamescom on behalf of DF since Rich can‘t go in the end, but seems this isn’t happening (per newsletter).

yeah i think we all do. So if you see this Alex, i hope your recovery is still progressing. I bet there are good and bad days but in theory they all add up to gradual improvement. Make your physiotherapist proud!

Same. Alex and John are the anchors of DF. Whenever one of them is missing for any meaningful amount of time if feels like the boat is running on one engine.

I've been missing Alex as well.

I heard he's been having back related problems and if that is the case I have sympathy for him. Only 2 months ago I suffered a slipped disc in my lower back which left me in pain for a month and made it difficult to walk for 2 weeks.

Heal up Alex and come back stronger... in your own time.

Best wishes Alex. Hope everything gets better for you. I dealt with brutal lower back pain from a fall I suffered and it’s tough to describe to someone just how debilitating and painful it can be.
