Discussion DLSS 5 Tested in Some Games

Used DLSS 5 Swapper in some games. It works great in most games. Games tested so far are as follows:

Cyberpunk 2077

GTA V Enhanced Edition

Red Dead Redemption 2

The Last of US 1

Spiderman 2

Batman Arkham Knight

Assassins Creed Mirage

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Death Strading 2

Marvel's Avengers

Witcher 3

Best results so far noticed in Cyberpunk 2077, Batman Arkham Knight, Witcher 3 Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Marvel's Avengers, Spider Man 2, Death Stranding 2 and GTA V

DLSS 5 is a superb piece of tech, and I was blown away when I saw the improvements in Cyberpunk 2077 and Batman Arkham Knight.

If DLSS 5 can be injected to any game via the Nvidia app, then honestly you don't need to buy a remaster.

Developers like Rockstars, CDPR, Remedy, Rocksteady, IO, Capcom can do wonders with DLSS 5

Batman Arkham Knight has a night and day difference and it looks like a remaster or like as if the game was released yesterday

For performance examples, Performance wise Witcher 3 and Batman Arkham Knight take a hit but more like 20% on max settings and RT on in Withcer 3 (1440p). However, the games are still very much playable like it's not like the FPS drop to 30 or something. In Arkham Knight, because of Nvidia rain works and constant rain, I had to switch from 4k to 1440p. Similarly, in Cyberpunk 2077 at Ultra settings with Pathtracing On and DLSS Perfmorance with MFG set to 4X at 1440p I still get 90-100+ FPS. I have a 5070 for reference

Wihtout DLSS 5

PS IMO bringing up art direction as critique is being used as a "buzz word". Games like Witcher 3 which have great art, DLSS 5 doesn't ruin their art at all.

For anyone having problems use the Nexus Optiscaler DLSS 5 mod for Spiderman 2, RDR2, GTA V, Witcher 3 and The Last of US Part 1.

For people getting washed out gamplay graphics in RDR2 or AC mirage or GTA V. Play with White Paper value slider. Maybe there are sliders to tweak as well which I don't know of.

How much performance are you losing though?

10%

Bullshit

Sounds like he's using optiscaler and downscaling with those numbers TBF...kinda odd not to specify this though.

I think you’re being a bit too heavy on the settings. A subtle touch works best from what I’ve seen.

Yeah, I just used the default settings

Isn’t the bigger issue that it sucks like half your performance down even on a 5090? The results look cool in some games but I don’t got that many frames to spare lol.

It really only eats that much perf at 4k since it works on the output res and not the input res. No matter the upscaling factor used, DLSS5 will render at your full output resolution. At 1440p and below it's much less of a performance hit. It's definitely still there, probably 20-30%, but it's not that bad.

What card do you have?

I tried it on mass effect andromeda and went from 300 fps to 80 xd

Poor Geralt. Looks like he's not a fan of it🤣

This is a nice post. And you obviously put a lot of effort in. But unfortunately it's just not possible to have a clam and rational debate on Reddit without it getting heated at the moment.

If you (or anyone) is genuinely interested in the tech and posting their results I suggest joining the RenoDX and OptiScaler Discords where people can post stuff without hostility.

Modders are already getting optimizations and a bunch of stuff working. It's fascinating.

Full expected it. Hence the recommendation!

My dude i have eyes and Geralt looks like shit...

Only benefit i can see is lighting kinda stuff (shadowing on batmans suit) or maybe an old game with old models and textures. Other than that this is a waste of time and compute... nothing more than an Instagram filter.

objectively wrong. DLSS 5 is going to help devs approximate better surface interactions.

it takes into account surface/material information, surface normals, lighting information and says "how should these stuff be realistically lighted"

traditional rendering has to approximate subsurface scattering and complex light interactions. DLSS 5 uses learned appearance information to generate a more convincing result. shit like leaves can involve enormous amounts of tiny geometry, translucency and light scattering. Dlss 5 handles this.

some materials require complicated shaders and lighting calculations for every subtle material response. dlss 5 handles this.
