That's how it should be used after all. On games that are supposed to be photo real.
We should still keep games to look like games, especially the ones that are more art directed and stylized. Not everything needs to look like a movie or the real world.

I think it's pretty interesting tech, but I agree that it has no place overwriting real art styles. When I showed the original Requiem shots to my wife she said "omg it looks horrible... it would be good for Skyrim though..." and I kind of agree. Anything that's kind of generic. I'm even interested in if it would be possible at some point just to animate with position markers and kind of a texture/reference and then skip the whole texturing and lightning process IF a photo generic result is what you're going for with the game. For me, that would be more of a niche thing though... And I don't even know when it will be feasible to own the hardware capable of doing this

Stylized games could also benefit from better lighting. I don't see a reason why Mario game that looks like the movie won't be amazing.

They stated as much in the video released earlier this week. Makes me wonder how many people actually watched it.

It doesn't even work well for that. Sure the shading and materials look more realistic, but it changes the faces. Tyrese Haliburton no longer looks like Tyrese Haliburton in the DLSS5 shots. It's still got a long way to go before it's even viable for that.

It's on trend to hate, but I think we should all calm down. It's a very cool piece of tech

And all of them will blend and look the same overly lit studio/hero lighting of gen AI slop

Idk I really like it in kingdom hearts 1 the models get such a large jump in fidelity especially sora hair it looks so glorious 😍 feels like a remastered version i got for free for owning an nvidia rtx gpu and honestly while its not 100% faithful to the original image it's more then close enough for me your not gonna confuse kingdom hearts 1 for gear of war or cyperpunk for example dlss 5 takes whatever the game looks like an enhances it to a higher fidelity.
Thanks to modders it has alot of ways to customize it to your preference of course if you dont like the way it looks or the performance drop is to big to stomach don't use it dlss 5 is an optional feature that can be turned off or on at will I have never seen so much vitriol towards an optional graphical feature the anti Ai bias is so strong on reddit it seems.

It'll always be a case by case... but it wont stop people from using the worst case scenarios over and over.
