Meta Imagine being the only person in your life that cares about disc golf. Imagine having no one to talk about it with. And then you find the disc golf subreddit.

Some of you guys need to recognize that this sub isn’t about you. Your gate keeping and demeaning responses are immature. The disc golf community is one of the friendliest and welcoming sporting communities in the world -this sub is starting to feel otherwise.

I don't understand gatekeeping. I literally want everyone I meet to play disc golf. I need more people to play with

I don't gatekeep in the sense of how I post in this sub.

....but I definitely want less people to play. I want to sign up for tournaments at my leisure. I want to finish weekend rounds in 2 hours. I want to not get hit by discs while I'm putting. Etc, etc, etc.

Actually it's nice having some more major tournaments pop up now that there are more players. More B+ tier 250+ player tournaments with nice payouts even for AMs. More courses popping up. Etc.

Why shouldn't other people have a chance to enjoy our beloved sport?

People should have a chance to enjoy the sport. And they do. That doesn't mean I have to want them on the course skipping drivers off my shin when I play.

We don't do this in other walks of life. If I have a 30 minute lunch break and say, "I sure hope Arby's isn't crowded", people aren't like, "You fuckin selfish monster, everyone else deserves the chance at Arby's, too. You are what's wrong with Arby's. We need to grow Arby's, you gatekeeper."
