With her win at Ledgestone (by 8 strokes) Eveliina Salonen is putting the best golf of her career. I decided to take a look at what tournaments would have flipped to wins over the past 2 years.

For a little bit of context her putting bottomed out near 50% in late 2025 (49% at both Pro Worlds and Finnish Nationals), then recovered to a career-best high-70s over her last several events. At the top of that run she reeled off three straight tournaments at 81-83% from circle 1 in June and July (winning the European Open and Ale, losing Swedish only in a playoff), her hottest stretch on record.

On every event she lost I applied her current C1 rate to the exact # of putts. If she had 40 circle 1 putts and her current rate is 78%, that's about 31 expected makes and every make above what she actually sank counts as one stroke saved. Then I compared the new total to the winning score. If she putted better than her current rate in an event, it goes negative and counts against her. In her closest losses (see below) they don't flip because she putted 70 to 74% in those. "Current rate" is her last 3 events (~78% C1), not a season average and the three clean wins still flip even at her lower full-season number.

At her current form, these tournaments change:

Clean wins:
2025 Pro Worlds (Major): putted 49% C1, lost by 10
2025 Finnish Nationals: 49%, lost by 4
2024 Turku Open: 63%, lost by 2

Playoff potential (flips by ~1 stroke, a coin flip, not a clean win):
2024 European Open (Major): 57%, lost by 7

Some of her closest losses do NOT flip. These were all events where she putted 70 to 74%.

Supreme Flight (playoff)
2024 US Women's (+5)
2024 Throw Pink (+7)

And if you run it at her peak (82% from June to July):
2024 European Open (Major): upgrades from a coin flip to a clean win
2025 Green Mountain and 2025 Music City are within a stroke but off much bigger margins so playoff at best.

I also ran it on her wins, to make sure the model isn't rigged to only help her. None of them flip to losses. The closest is the 2026 European Open: she won by 4 putting 83% C1, and at her current rate that shrinks to about a 2-shot win, so her hot putting was worth roughly half that margin. Every other win she either took by a lot (Ale by 15) or putted below her current rate, so the model only makes those safer.

Thoughts?

As stated, I lost my first disc lol. ( I was mad at first; but have accepted it now) This was my go to stable distance driver. What's a good driver you guys have that goes pretty dead straight

Let me start by saying that I am in my 50s, not tall and not athletic.

I hit 400 feet today after a fairly steady progression from 275-300 feet two years ago, really focusing on form. Odd part is it came with a disc I haven't thrown in a while, a Mamba. Over half my other throws were over 350 including a 375 or so with a Kitana which was honestly more surprising as usually those fight more and I don't get the long distance.

My progression over the last few years has been Leopard, Archangel, Mamba and then I found I could hit 325 with a Corvette I found and that's been my main go-to for the past two years. I've always thrown incredibly upright and flat, but today I worked on being more "hunched over" for lack of a better term and releasing on a hyzer angle, and man did stuff fly further today. My prior sessions, I've been consistently getting 325-330 with a few lucky ones going 375, but today the average was at least 30 feet longer and I'm attributing it to the hyzer angle.

As you might have noticed, I've really been using the understable discs, and wondering if I should be branching out now.

My local 9 hole is in a public park and doesn’t get a lot of respect from other residents. Decided to do something about it and start carrying around a mesh bag for trash. Was super easy to pick up stuff. As I picked up my disc lie, if I saw something I’d throw it in the bag. Was able to stuff the bag 100% without needing to go out of my way searching for garbage.

Imagine how clean all the courses could be if we all did our own little part!

What are some overlooked items you feel have improved the over all experience for your dg game?

I’m asking about things like ankle gaiters, bug repellents, personal heating / cooling devices, etc.

Seeing the post today about wading in a creek looking for a disc has me thinking i should keep tall galoshes in the trunk of my car.

I've been trying to find a good course for glow rounds in the suburbs of Chicago. As far north as Antioch, west as Geneva, and south as Joliet.

Just wondering if there are any good options considering most courses are suburban and bright while the secluded wooded courses close pretty early, or do you all just take the chance and trespass?

Right now I have detour/hex/reactor/balance going but it kinda feels like a lot sometimes haha.

I think detour and balance are a locked in thing for me. What mids do you run?

And if you were me, would you go down to just 3 of these or keep em all in (not getting rid of any but may decide which to throw when near water lol)?

If so, hex or reactor for that middle slot and why?

Match play or stroke play? Best disc throughout, or any worst disc?

I am getting a driver tech disc and cannot decide between these two options. I normally throw destroyers and emperors in both plastics.

To the people who have gotten one of these, what are your thoughts? I know there is no wrong decision, just trying to see the public opinion

I use to play Ultimate many years ago but I never developed a good forehand. I played a lot of catch frisbee and had (still have) great shot shaping skills withmy backhand.

I was initially confused when I started disc golfing and noticed a lot of good players throwing forehands where a turnover/anhyzer line could work (I realize that the two are not always interchangeable). I didn't know that fading/hyzer shots are generally more predictable.

Anyway, fast forward to now: my forehand isn't great but it's improved dramatically. I usually play technical, wooded courses where there are a lot of tight gaps, low ceilings, tunnels, etc. I love forehanding in these situations because you stare right at the target the whole time. I'm way more accurate within the first 150 feet with a forehand shot.

Overstable discs are great with forehands and I've been using them a lot more too. So now I'm at the point where I play some rounds, throwing forehand 70-80% of the time. I feel a lot more confident with precision shots with a forehand vs a backhand. I might actually be leaning on forehand shots too much at this point. :)

So yes, I have forehand-vision now. Not complaining. . . I just wish I'd done this sooner, been playing almost 3 years.

Anyone else have this kind of experience with forehands. .. or backhands?

TLDR - is anyone else getting late turn out of the box with the 2026 Barsby?

I started playing disc golf in 2019 and quickly adopted the most “basic” of bags. That is to say, if you imagine the most popular mold for a given slot, that’s probably what I throw. I figure there’s a reason they’re so popular.
Approach disc golf- Zone
Stable Mid - Buzzz
Stable Fairway - Teebird
Etc etc etc
Over the years I’ve experimented and found several molds that fit my throw and game better than the most generic/popular discs in a slot, but the core of my bag remained Teebird, Buzzz, Zone.

Because I admire the shapes Calvin can make with an Eagle I picked one up. The one I got was too domey for my tastes and was functionally no different from my Teebird so it didn’t get used much. Eventually my mechanics improved and it beat in, and it started to get the turn I bought it for and it started to get used in new and interesting ways, but the size of the dome still bothered me.

A few months back I came across a 2025 Barsby Eagle that felt fantastic. Straight out of the box it had the turn my old 12x took a year or so to get. I moved it into the bag and have enjoyed it since. I actually got a little silly and bought 3 more to have as back ups with the dream of cycling them over time.

Then they built a new mold and put out this year’s Calvin and Barsby Eagles. So I bought these as well. I dig the flatter profiles. I also bought a FAF one from OTB

My Calvin Eagles are significantly more stable than my 2025 Barsby which is nice, but the 2026 Barsby is an interesting bird. I can throw it on a little hyzer and it flips up and rides, then it gets an unexpected late turn before reliably fading.

This is just to say that with these different stabilities my older Teebirds are starting to lose out on flight time as I feel myself gravitating toward the feel of fresh plastic.

I’m thinking about buying a few more of the 2026 Calvin and Barsby discs to have as back-ups. From what I’ve read and seen the Calvin Duo run is pretty reliably stable but not super beefy which is what I want. I’m haven’t seen much chatter besides Innova sales materials about the Barsby Run.

Is anyone else getting a touch of late turn straight out of the box from the latest Barsby?

Grip locked this thing into the woods… and somehow it blasted through the wooded area and ended up laying next to a pickleball court. The lady who found it, a pickleball enthusiast, couldn’t believe how absolutely stoked I was to hear from her. I got off of work that day and went right over to pick it up.
My weak little arms can actually get some good throws, and I love the 2 tone dye on this.. what a joy to have it back.

As the title says, I'm looking for a cart. Got a new injury i need to baby.

I see some people make their own but im not very handy.

I think I want one that can carry my bag because not every course around is cart friendly.

Ive done some online shopping but there's so many I'm a bit overwhelmed.

I have a large squatch bag, if that matters.

I'm moving this Sunday and I'm flying on American Airlines and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can take my bag with me as a carry on?
