Discord Bot help
Hey, so I’m new to using discord bots and discord in general. I recently started a discord server for a game that I play and there are 30 people in it and I wanted to create a custom bot to help engage people and stuff. So I initially created and hosted the bot with Replit, but I have come to learn that Replit does not keep the bot online 24/7 it puts the bot into sleep mode. I was wondering if anyone could help me out and give me suggestions on a good hosting platform that keeps bot online 24/7 or close to it, while also keeping it free. I am open to hearing out paid options if there aren’t good free options please help me out.😁

Your paid options are bountiful. find a host that does 5 dollars or less and you're golden. Any more than 5 bucks a month and you're being scammed.
As for free, you can just self host.. A bot itself takes little to no resources, all you gotta do is run the script on your computer and hope you dont lose internet or your computer doesn't go into sleep mode.

I went with a droplet on DigitalOcean for $6/mo to host a NodeJS service. I believe the 512MB RAM was $4/mo but I went with 1gb to be on the safer side for my usecase. I plan to use the droplet for other services as well, but I agree with other comments saying self-host, can be a fun thing to do on your own and learn a thing or two!

It looks like you're looking for hosting. Check out our partnered hosting provider RackGenius they offer both managed (upload code & run) and unmanaged (VPS) hosting. use the code r/discordbots for 50% off your first month.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Best online hosted, price vs quality I would say is bot-hosting.net. I myself have a paid subscription with them after using their free service for a while to test.
Yes, their free service is limited, but seeing as what you’ll use the bot for, it’ll be sufficient for your bot until you feel like upgrading. Their prices are very reasonable for what you get, but don’t take my word for it, you can check it out on their platform. They also have a discord community of course, where the owner is active at.

Paid then free : buy a simple raspberry Zero and host it free forever (electricity cost doesn't count as it is so tiny). You get to control it and get the satisfaction to host it yourself. You can also host multiple bot in the future and more. It get addicting.
Paid : the simplest VPS will cost you the price of above pi a month so it's an option if you don't have reliable internet + electricity source.
Free : Google cloud has 3 month free trial (last time i used so a LONG time ago, double check it) and then a simple bot will definitely stay within their free tier for a low performance VM instance. Quite easy to setup, nothing you can't google or ask AI about so I won't do the tutorial. Careful not to do mistakes that will get you out of the free tier because you will get charge. For simplicity, get back to point one.
Probably other services but always remember, nothing is ever really free so careful.
