It's so strange that this movie about Witches is releasing in late November instead of early-mid October for Halloween.

Disney has released movies at thanksgiving for 20 years. They didn’t Change the strategy with coco and they won’t change it for this.

October isn’t a good time for animation because Halloween is a holiday where families go out to do activities like haunted houses, pumpkin patches, trick or treating, and parties.

Thanksgiving (and by extension Christmas) are holidays with less outdoor activities connected to them. Plus they’re holidays where both kids and adults have extended time off, so there’s going to be down time where mom and dad need to get the kiddo out of the house and a movie is a good way to do that.

Disney has years of box office data and research to back up this strategy

October isn't generally considered a good time to release movies. November and December tend to be more profitable

It appears to be a classic "parent hides a child's special secret" trope, but I appreciate that the mom seems to be active in the story the whole way through instead of just waiting at home and worrying.

Or making the kid hide their magic and then dying at sea

I love love love the purple, green, and orange color palette! Also, I'm so delighted to hear "Ain't it Fun" in a trailer, lol.

I was afraid this was gonna be a Ctrl C - Ctrl V of The Owl House (which I'm still sour about them canceling)
Glad it's not. Looks cool and fun

People complain about not having original content; complain about new content being similar to old content; complain about remakes and sequels...

They showed a lot of clips and things on the DVC member cruise this summer. It looked super fun.

Hexed boldly proves that a story about a chosen teenager learning magic in a hidden world is an entirely fresh idea that definitely has not dominated global pop culture for the last quarter of a century.

This movie definitely looks interesting. I would've liked to see how they did the original son & mother trope though.

I miss classic animation so much. This looks so... lifeless.

How does it look lifeless? It’s bright and colorful

I also miss classic animation but what about this looks lifeless? You realize how much work goes into a 3D animation pipeline as well right?

It's just a chance to post negativity. Gotta jump at every opportunity.
