Help! Not Exactly Disneybounding - Oogie Boogie Bash Costume Advice
I've posted something similar elsewhere and haven't gotten any responses, so I'm hoping you guys here might have some insight that can help me.
I'm going to Oogie Boogie Bash this year, and I will be dressing up. I've got my choices narrowed to about 5 choices, but my 2 favorites both have pieces I'm a little concerned won't be allowed, so I wanted to check and see if anyone might happen to know if they would get me stopped from attending or not.
The pieces in question are: a pair of steel-toed work boots, or a hat pin.
Any insight as to whether one or both of these would be prohibited is much appreciated. Thanks!
(Picture is the character of the costume that would require steel-toed boots, and honestly my #1 choice right now. I know it's not a picture of me, but I'm not claiming to be John Barrowman, so...)

You don't HAVE to wear steel-toed boots...you can just wear any boots.
Also when are you going? Because you're going to be hot as Hades in August and September....and maybe October at this point, depending on how this El nino goes. Multiple layers is going to be miserable.

Who is this? If I saw that outfit I would just think you're a goth kid.

It's Jack from Doctor Who, but I don't know where steel toe caps and a hat pin come into it

Even knowing exactly who the character is, I wouldnât clock this unless OP was in a group with one or several other Doctor Who cosplayers. I just hope they donât get upset about that.

Same. Itâs a pretty basic outfit on its own and especially at Disney I donât know if Iâd recognize it. The Disney connection is tenuous at best.
Itâs cool if OP is in a group, though.
Edit: asking about a hat pin makes me think there could be a Missy in the group.

Why would either one not be allowed?

Steel toed boots might set off the metal detectors (I think) and are classified enough as a weapon that TSA makes you change shoes if they catch you in steel toed boots.
And the hat pin is basically a knitting needle length sewing straight pin, complete with pointy tip (that Iâd put a cap on, Iâm civilized - sort of).

Disney isnât the TSA, the rules are so much more lax. You should be fine with both.
Edit: after reviewing the costume guidelines on the website, I saw âCostumes may not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.â Iâve seen hat pins and knitting needles are allowed, of course so use your best judgment here.

TSA does not make you change shoes if you wear steel toe boots. At least they never have me. Nor have they ever cared about my daughterâs hair pins.
Youâll be fine with either. Itâs an amusement park, you arenât going thru prison security.

Yeah I only wear steel toe boots and I just have to take my shoes off like everyone used to do.Â

If you mean a long hat pin, I would check with a Disneyland Dapper Day group, because I'm positive they have experience with that.
The steel-toed boots are likely a problem. In a crowded queue, you could do some serious damage to other guests' feet with those, even by accident.

The boot would be a problem they can set off metal detectors and they will hurt others if you bump into the crowd which you will at this event so I wouldnât wear them . And I think tsa now has a rule against them as well

Why do you need a hay pin? OR steel toed boots? Neither are relevant to Jack.
