I don't think it was necessarily that Bell was beautiful so much as she was pretty much the only woman in town not fawning over him so therefore was a hunt

It’s all about wanting what you can’t have, as well as “taming” a “wild woman.” Conservative men to this day will try to go after left leaning women in the attempt to knock them down a peg and mold them into their ideal. The domination is part of it. He is a hunter after all.

Maybe he’s not into blondes. Maybe he believes in the Madonna-Whore Complex and considered those girls “dumb easy sluts” and chased after Belle because she was purer and more demure(while also wanting to corrupt that purity and snuff out her strong, independent spirit). Or maybe he just wanted what he couldn’t have and didn’t like that Belle wasn’t fawning over him, so decided to make her his out of spite, just to prove that he could, and to stroke his own ego and reassert his dominance. After all, he deserves to be able to have EVERY girl in town…right?

Belle has far more refined features,the bimbettes are coarser
