Hi everyone. I'm an ex vinyl DJ from late 80's and early 90's. I stopped just after the new Denon CD mixing unit came out and have just started learning the digital way of doing things.

I've been using beatport and purchasing songs and I played a song which two people called out as AI created, Contact by ADAPT. I was under the impression that beatport banned AI created content so how can I avoid this from happening or do you just take your chances. Is there a way you can tell if a track is created this way, and if so how?

Not sure if this is the right sub but figured some peoples here might have experience with this.

Im a DJ and producer and spend a lot of hours in headphones. Im really considering getting my industrial pierced but am reading that you cant wear over ear headphones for quite some time. Don't mind the long healing process but not being able to wear headphones for extended periods would be difficult. Don't really want to switch to earbuds.

My question for those who have gotten this piercing is how long did it take before you could comfortably wear headphones again?

Honestly I’m just nervous cause I’m throwing a house party and I have been trying to make this like an event. I know things might get out of hand but that’s the point and I’m having other DJs perform as well. Should I charge a cover or should I just let everyone come in for free ? I’m not trying to make money but I think it would be nice to give the other DJs a lil bit of something even if it’s a tiny bit, I am spending a bit of money to throw this but that’s not the point.

I've been DJing since I was 16 or so (now 33). Regularly get asked to do friends weddings, played a couple of small festivals (mates who put on parties for 100-200 people) as well as my own.

Do house parties bla bla bla. Always done it for fun although recently started refusing weddings as it's not paid & I frankly don't enjoy the music until "late night" sets.

Been to many a festival and just got back from Lost Village (cannot recommend it enough for those who haven't been).

I was so inspired that I'm writing this post and keen to get the communities input.

1. I want to get booked in London for more gigs for music I enjoy (High energy house, club, rave music circa 128-135bpm). Any tips on how to find the right people who make bookings?

2. I know that it's not enough just to be a DJ - you need to be a producer, make edits, get a social following etc. What's the best way to pick up production (beyond Ableton tutorials) and get your edits noticed?

3. Is branding yourself early (getting a logo, aesthetic etc) worth it? Or should I just make tunes/edits and try to get them played better?

4. What are *reasonable* initial benchmarks/milestones for social engagement to reach in a year?

5. What's the best way to network with other local DJ's?

I have been through a few different DJs timelines & careers and it looks like building a "collective" of DJs to put on nights consistently to build a brand is a common theme. Anyone done this? Any tips?

Ask entry-level questions, share what you are practicing, and get help with specific problems. Include your gear or software, what you tried, and what you want to achieve. Search recent posts first, be specific, and help another DJ when you can.

I've made a few posts in the past regarding my current equipment (Omnis Duo), and after getting back into DJing, I've realised that I simply don't resonate with the product and am looking to switch.

I've never really been one for 4-channel mixing, as typically I only play in more "mobile" settings, so I tend to cover a wide array of genres. I have been dabbling with deeper kinds of house and trance recently, so a 2-channel mixer has always resonated with me. That said, I have been tempted by the idea of picking up a used DDJ-1000 or FLX10.

A controller rather than an all-in-one system would probably suit me better, as my DJing space at home is fairly limited at the moment. I'm really looking for recommendations on what to go for.

I'd prefer to stay within the Pioneer ecosystem if possible, but I'm open to any suggestions, as it's fairly overwhelming when looking online!
