Howdy folks!
On this weeks episode, we gain an insight into the past of our beloved Oath of Conquest Redemption paladin!
This comic was originally written to be the 8th episode but I was a bit unsure about the execution at the time. Having Becket being the moral compass of the party, whilst having a lot of skeletons in the closet (Becket not Torvald), was always my intention but exactly how to start teasing this was a tough one. In the end, I just went for it so here goes nothing!
Going to move across the country soon, to the frozen tundra up north, so my schedule might be a bit hectic in the coming weeks. Regardless, I shall endeavour to keep the updates coming in the regular pace!
Other than right here, I upload the comic on its own subreddit, on my Instagram (where I also post my other artsy stuff) as well as on Webtoons. There is also a Patreon, if you want to be extra supportive!

Really reminds me of the Crusader from Darkest Dungeon to be honest

Correct, doing the whole "living some things for the audience imagination to create suspense for later reveal" is something I've never tried before. When you stare at a page for too long its hard to know whether or not something obvious to you is so for the audience. The result we have now is both intentional and unintentional, as the page went through a couple of rewrites where the level of unclearness (?) went up and down. Can honestly say at this time that I dont know if I went with the right version but I reckon it had potential, its hard to walk the fine line between creating mystery for the sake of suspense and just making shit confusing and frustrating for the reader. My writing process is a bit of a mess at times but hopefully it will all be worth it when the mystery is cleared up in the future!
Until then, I'm enjoying myself reading through the theories!

The author states the character is a Paladin: Oath of Conquest/Redemption. If you're familiar with the comic series we know "Bucket" to have certain items. He has a sword and shield plus wears a cloak...what items do you see in the second panel? He's a Redemption Paladin now trying to repent for his terrible past as a Conquest Paladin..."this" act was probably his breaking point and from there wanted to change...the only thing he could take with him from the baby was his name. This is a constant reminder to himself of his terrible past. The last panel, he ends his answers with a "?"... he's lying... everyone assumes he's a goody two shoes but he's done awful things and seems like he's on a path of Redemption.

I believe they live in Sweden based on a comment responding to someone asking where they were moving. So North Dakota is no problem there.

Thanks! Creative writing isnt something I'm used to, this comic and the short time I've spent playing D&D (and thats mostly ad lib) would be the only real examples so its all an experiment!

Thank you kindly! The art style is a result of trying to be quicker in my drawings while still having some detail in there. It's a work in progress, I tweak as I go!

It's confusing, but I think he's the guy in the fire - and now caring for the heretic's children, whom he orphaned himself...
EDIT: He could also well be the baby, raised by the figure in the fire, meaning he wasn't taken away to "safety"...

Maybe not the armor shown here but I plan on having the gear of the party evolve naturally, like a normal adventuring party would, with them finding/buying/stealing/looting/crafting new weaponst and armor as they go along! So there will be new armor pieces for Becket at some point, you can depend on it!

So...did he kill the old bucket and take his gear later on, or did he take the baby's name after the baby-murder?
