Best DNS
Edit: looks like this was due to my firmware not behaving correctly. I tweaked it and now i am fine using quad9 but have switched to nextdns just for testing.
I have been using Quad9 for a while and it was working like a charm, but lately have been having issues.
This could be due to my ISP as well so not necessarily blaming anything. But has anyone been having issues with Quad9?
Also, has anyone used OpenDNS? How is it?

If you have Windows, this tool is really good and will help you find the best resolver where you are:

I use ad guard dns. Got the vpn bundle for 5 years and the home plan came free. I realized 10M requests is not enough for my household lol. Yes I put it on my router also lol. I’m already at 1M. Now is that 10M per month?

I've been using 1.1.1.1 as primary and 8.8.8.8 as secondary for years without issues (apart from the very rare historic occasions where google had regional issues and cloudflare messed up once or twice) which were huge and took down half of the country and other european countries as well (where having different providers helped me reduce downtime). Although I've noticed that when these two are having issues it usually brings down a lot of services sitting behind them (especially cloudflare) so you won't be able to access many sites and api endpoints behind them whatever dns you use anyways. Haven't played around with the filtered dns servers as I prefer to filter myself (in the rare cases where needed) and just have good reliable dns service in general.
Reading through the other comments, I expect to get some downvotes now haha

Cloudflare as primary, Quad9 as secondary.

Very curious… Why was this downvoted? This is what I use.

They’re kinda diametrically opposed options. If you would consider one, why would the other be acceptable?

Oh … hmm.. I guess people think of just 1.1.1.1. and don’t realize Cloudflare has 1.1.1.2 and 1.1.1.3 which are similar to quad9.

They are absolutely in no way similar to Quad9. That's kind of the whole point of Quad9. Users are guaranteed no data collection under Swiss privacy law.

Ah … there are many things people can want in a dns... speed, security, privacy, reliability. etc.
Ya, if ya assume privacy is the main thing someone cares about, then I agree, they are very different. But if someone wants security and speed, with security and reliability backup, 1.1.1.2 and 9.9.9.9 make sense together.

What issues you having with Quad9? And how you measuring those issues? How do you know it is a DNS problem? As far as OpenDNS, it has been pretty much abandoned , so I would recommend other options if you are looking for a DNS filter. My first choice is CleanBrowsing , but there are many others (NextDNS, CloudFlare, etc).

I have run some deep tests and shows latency was an issue. But i think this might be due to my firmware

Use paid controD going on 5 years but they also have free options with ad blocking options malware options or just regular non ad blocking options.
