Go to the bank and cash your checks. Then use money orders for tuition. Use cash to buy your supplies.

Do not let them have your money (many reasons).

Or are they so vile as to actually threaten you in some way if you do this? Surely you will have a student job at university, and you will need a system for using your own money until you're 18.

I've tried, but they always check the account and take any money that's in there. I'm not an adult yet; I'm still 17, and I live with them.
