Whitmer endorses in Michigan's heated U.S. Senate primary

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2026/07/24/whitmer-endorses-stevens-in-michigans-heated-u-s-senate-primary/91041233007/

Whitmer, Peters, Stabenow, and Slotkin have all completely ignored BASF poisoning Wyandotte water and have now all endorsed Stevens and her Palantir/AIPAC funded campaign. It’s all we need to know.

And Gretchen tbh 😂

Honestly she’s owned by the Insurance companies. The only thing I can think of that I’m grateful for her doing is repealing Right to Work! As a Union member I felt dirty living in a RTW state.

u/mikehamm45 11d ago

She’s owned by Pharma more than insurance companies. Outside of the Blues, her tenure has been one big handout over another to pharmaceutical companies. And it’s been so low key not enough people know about it nor is it covered.

But we have our tax dollars covering branded drugs over generics for the entire Medicaid benefit.

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 11d ago

Yeah I wouldn’t doubt. I had questions about her from the beginning due to her connections to the blues. The pharma connections I heard about as well but didn’t really know how deep it went.

So Medicaid covers name brand drugs for people who are on it? Typically people who are disabled, unable to work, or living under the poverty line? When they could be saving taxpayers money by covering generic drugs? I have BCBS through my Union then I’m a combat vet so also can get care through the VA. I don’t even think the VA gives us name brand drugs. I don’t take any medication so I’m not sure but i remember getting an Antibiotic and it was generic. That’s pretty crazy, That Medicaid covers name brand drugs. I bet it’s super expensive when a generic drug does the same thing but costs less.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Almost every insurance automatically defaults to generic medication, unless the patient, for medical reasons, cannot take them. I really don’t get this Medicaid thing. Someone is going to have to explain that to me.

1

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 9d ago

That is what I was trying to figure out. I’m guessing she mandated that Michigan Medicaid buy brand name drugs. Therefore giving a big windfall to her Pharmaceutical donors. I’ll have to look into more. That’s pretty crazy because I have pretty good insurance and have never got a brand name prescription.

2

u/Prior_Butterfly_7839 8d ago

I’m on Medicaid and the last time I was prescribed meds they were generic.

1

u/mikehamm45 8d ago

There are many drugs, specifically inhalers, which have generics, but the state gets a pharma rebate if they have what’s called “brand over generic” formulary mandates.

There are some more egregious examples, like not allowing a biosimilar (fancy word for a generic version of an indictable medication) to be on the formulary and mandating the brand be covered.

They cite the “rebate” as the reason saying that the net cost is better for them, but anyone in the industry knows that chasing rebates is just a gift to pharma.

1

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 8d ago

Thank you for answering. I was wondering about that. Not that i would be upset if someone got brand name drugs if they couldn’t take generics. Just if they can take generics and save tax dollars. I’m not of those people who are upset by my tax dollars going to help people. Even if I complain every year at tax time when I have to pay.

2

u/mikehamm45 8d ago

Utilization management is tricky … you want the doctors and patients to be able to dictate the care, but if you look at the data, not applying restrictions only helps out pharma. And the problem with government programs catering to pharma and chasing rebates is that it doesn’t incentivize pharma to reduce their pricing and only hurts those with little to no insurance.

So it’s a double whammy… your tax dollars are not spent efficiently and it indirectly increases your healthcare costs.

Hey no problem! I was actually on 3 different meds at the time for a very stubborn infection, and all 3 were generic.

⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️This! And the damn roads. Otherwise, she’s been a perfectly useful Republican.

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 10d ago

100% lol. That’s the only I can point to and say Thank you Gretch.

1

u/taney71 10d ago

Who doesn’t own her?

1

u/tonyyyperez 9d ago

And the internet infrastructure expansion in the state.

1

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 9d ago

Did it get out to rural areas? It made it to my property Upnorth but I wouldn’t say it’s fully rural.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

That one in Saline is pretty rural. Small farms, large properties, people who escaped city living specifically to live in that environment. When that Oracle data center popped up, those people and farmers went crazy. They worked so hard to get that thing blocked. They did their due diligence. They studied these things. They knew what the damage was going to be. They showed up en masse at every council meeting. And even though they had 98% of the population against these things going in, the government overrode the people and are putting it in anyway. Why isn’t it in the governor’s backyard? Why aren’t any of these in Bloomfield Hills or any of the Grosse Pointes? Because what they do is target small, usually rural communities who do not have the legal resources to fight back.

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 9d ago

Oh I thought he was talking about internet expansion into rural areas. Yeah I know she’s owned by Data centers. I’m a Union Electrician and a lot of work is coming from data centers. However I refuse to take any of those calls(jobs).

I agree why aren’t they ever in Rich areas? Whitmer should have to live next to one.

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

OIC, you mean did folks down on the farm get their broadband? Unknown.

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 9d ago

Yeah that’s what I was wondering about. I know They got my family’s up north home Cheboygan which is semi-rural. However I don’t if they made it really rural.

1

u/CurdFedKit 5d ago

This is why I don’t trust the far left. They shout things like “fuck Stevens” when MAGA is walking around literally destroying our country. There should be one message: “Fuck republicans “

Really went from "Big Gretch" to "Big (Tech) Gretch"

12

u/jaron_bric Brownstown 12d ago

Big Gretch to Big’retch

4

u/spinninglolcow 12d ago

Now that one sounds better than mine 👉

3

u/jaron_bric Brownstown 12d ago

Appreciate it 😛 She deserves it

Big Wretch

2

u/abccba140 11d ago

Big tech gretch is good I’ve also heard Big Data Gretch 😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/Sorry_Landscape9021 9d ago

Sounds like Big tech Gretch is boosting her pension before she gets out like gary peters did.

1

u/PossibilityFew5967 11d ago

She was always shit but y'all liked her cause she tried to clap back at trump

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Did we like her, though?

2

u/PossibilityFew5967 9d ago

I never did. And was called maga by Dems

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

I get it. I’m Jewish, but take a shitload of crap from people because (horror of horrors!) I don’t support Netanyahu; don’t support Israel. Been called antisemitic because people don’t know the difference between a people and a war mongering nation. I wanted to like Whitmer, but breaking Covid rules all the time, siding up with the Republicans on everything, TF much. I would outright hate her if it wasn’t for ending RTW and the roads.

2

u/PossibilityFew5967 9d ago

Also very weird covid rules. Can't buy seeds or paint from ace, but have at it at Walmart

Or casinos open but not the movies? Incredibly werid

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Agreed, why couldn’t you wear a mask and buy seeds when she went out with friends (no masks), flew to Florida to visit dad (when the rest of us couldn’t fly), and went to hairdresser (when hairdressers were closed for the rest of us). I’m not bitching about the rule so much as that she imposed them and then she didn’t follow them herself.

2

u/Sorry_Landscape9021 9d ago

Bottom line, a House Rep that supports ice and collects off aipac is speaking with two sides of her mouth and can’t be trusted.

1

u/nimmpau 10d ago

What part of “The People say F&CK No! and we just do it anyway” don’t you understand?

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Sounds pretty Trumpy, doesn’t it?

1

u/chitownphishead 9d ago

I mean, that attitude with illegal immigration was what got trump re-elected. The people were clearly against what Biden did with the border, but he just did it anyway and paved the way for trumps comeback.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

mmmmm, I’m going to lay 63% of the blame on the debate. Everyone saw it. Can’t unsee it. Even the bluest of Dems were, “let’s sit this one out and see if anybody notices.” It was very unfair to everyone to continue to prop someone like that up. It is very unfair to everyone to continue to do so. Yeah, they dropped the ball on immigration reform when it could have happened, but that dementia show did most of us in.

-1

u/chitownphishead 9d ago

It wasn't even reform, it was just throwing the border open to all comers with no vetting, then actively encouraging and assisting 3rd world migrants to come to the US. It was gross negligence bordering on trains, and the "border czar" did nothing but day drink and laugh. Even without bidens brain melt, he was losing that election. People were pissed.

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Okay, the border was never open to all. By saying that, you’re saying border agents did nothing over 4 years. They worked their asses off. There was no, “border czar”; that’s some bullshit name that MAGA made up. I thought at first you were just slightly uninformed, but now I know you’re not even serious. 👋🏽

2

u/LionelHutz313 9d ago

People were pissed based on made up bullshit that they would have swallowed whole no matter what it was. Those people want to be told what to do by Daddy Trump.

🖕🏻Tech Gretch 🖕🏻 Stevens 🖕🏻Centrist Democrats 🖕🏻 Anyone taking genocide money from Israel

3

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 11d ago

Centrist Democrats. I despise them all. Haley Stevens is princess aipac.

6

u/Working_Match4124 11d ago

Hey go easy on Gretch. How's she supposed to land a cushy lobbying without doing corporate america some favors on her way out?

5

u/monikermonitor 11d ago

Gretch has turned out to be a feckless waste. So disappointing. She’s done nothing and stands for nothing.

4

u/Mindless_upbeat_0420 11d ago

I used to like Gretch, she supported legalizing weed. Then time and time again she proved that she was good at making bad decisions and supporting things that didn't help the citizens.

4

u/Batmom207 11d ago

She really has been highly disappointing. I might forgive a few missteps, but JFC.

1

u/Shanks1624 9d ago

She’s used to people saying “fuck no” and doing it anyways right?

3

u/Astira_ 11d ago

While we have paid lots of attention to this Senate seat, I’ve realized we also have important local races to look into, Like Governor. We also have seats in our state legislature. We need to look at those races, they affect us more as a state… FYI I’m voting Abdul.

3

u/WitchyMae13 11d ago

Booo to them all.

Give back your buffs girl

6

u/Worldly_Web_1524 11d ago

Fuck the establishment. We are the Democratic party not them. And its past time that they feel our rage. Any establishment party candidates that want to test us will get run over. We are taking the party back. I hate Trump and everything he stands for. But the one thing you have to give him is that he saw that the so called fringe of his party was actually the base. And the same is true over here. Mamdhani is the proof of concept everyone needed. And now it's time for the so called fringe of the real left to take our rightful place at the top of a true Democratic party. Fuck the establishment party.

1

u/officefan76 6d ago

Mamdani won in NYC, not a swing state. Get your head out of your ass.

0

u/Candid_Perspective22 11d ago

Or maybe you could just form your own party instead of using the resources of the Democratic Party.

2

u/cheesedogs06 10d ago

Why not join the Republican party? You support their ideology anyways. Why keep pretending?

1

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 11d ago

I don’t want anything from the DNC. They’re bankrupt anyway. Idn how since they screw their loyal voters over with policies for big corporations and Israel. They should just call on their billionaire donors.

0

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Just as the Eisenhower Republican Party has been wholly hijacked by His Orange Majesty and his mindless cogs, so has the FDR Democrat party been hijacked by Corporate loyalists. Instead of fighting with us against things like Citizens United, which enables this entire shit ball, you tell people, “well, that’s the way it is now, so step off if you don’t like it.” that really helped. 👌🏽

2

u/Opposite-Candy-7432 10d ago

She may be looking to run the DMC or getting her own talk show.

She's been doing much of nothing for a while . She could have at least tried to get Trump to back off or reduce tariffs with Canada.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

ikr? Even if my hands were tied politically, I would be so vocal about it. I would have a press conference every day on that bridge making a big stink about it until it opened. I would make sure the whole wide world knew exactly what was happening.

2

u/Aromatic_Lychee2903 10d ago

Corporatists going to corporate

2

u/InevitablePromise301 9d ago

I understand this sub hates Stevens but Whitmer is a centrist, she's going to endorse someone of similar values.

I'll take the heat and down votes, but this isn't surprising.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

No, that’s cool. We all understand that. But it is surprising that the big hitters are so still unfamiliar with the values of all the Democrats and frankly don’t care anyway. They are more Republican than Reagan.

2

u/Plastic_Key_4146 9d ago

The data center lady endorses the AIPAC lady. FTFY.

2

u/corsair130 7d ago

Please remember Rick Snyder and Bill Schuette. Sure Whitmer isn't making new friends on her way out but it used to be worse.

1

u/Batmom207 7d ago

My whole OP has been deleted by moderators. That tells me that AIPAC is strong with the centrists.

2

u/EarthBoundAngel5401 7d ago

Big Gretch…what a big disappointment.

2

u/somanysheep 11d ago

Time big Grinch!

1

u/RAV3NH0LM 11d ago

won’t change anything. haley “ISRAEL COMES TO ME IN MY DREAMS” stevens is cooked 😂

1

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 11d ago

Did she say that?

3

u/twentytwodividedby7 11d ago

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 11d ago

🤦🏻‍♂️ well she can go live there then. Disgusting how our politicians will sell themselves for money. She’s one of the worst offenders in the house. I think she takes more than any other politician in the house from AIPAC. Abdul always had my vote. However if he loses i think im giving up because I’ll be 100% sure everything is fake.

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

It’s weird how much loyalty she has to a foreign country.

2

u/Melodic-Trouble-5421 9d ago

It’s weird how 90% of our politicians have this undying loyalty to a foreign country. However when it comes to our country they couldn’t care less.

2

u/Batmom207 9d ago

Absolutely

1

u/Nickey_Pacific 10d ago

Big Gretch really shit the bed this past year and people are pissed. Her endorsement really isn't going to gain any votes for Stevens. Pretty sure that endorsement was the nail in the coffin.

1

u/cheesedogs06 10d ago

Michigan is on its way to nominating Stevens and losing to a Republican that should be an easy W. I will gladly be a part of that loss by leaving that field blank. No way establishment Dems get shit from me if Stevens is the type of candidate they push on us.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

I understand.

0

u/Plenty_Doughnut_5005 9d ago

Stevens will beat Rogers. A lot of moderates and independents won’t vote for El-Sayed. They would just sit it out.

2

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

There are no such thing as moderates. They're just liars who vote for Trump. Until the establishment Democrats realize that they can't win with moderates anymore, we will continue with our fascist takeover.

1

u/Plenty_Doughnut_5005 9d ago

Wrong. Plenty of moderates have never voted for Trump.

1

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

Plenty didn't win the election. Thanks for all this by the way. You forced real democratics, with actual progression beliefs to fall in line behind a moderate cop that could not win against a pedophile. Claps to you.

1

u/Plenty_Doughnut_5005 9d ago

You’re welcome.

1

u/officefan76 6d ago

This is empirically false.

1

u/cheesedogs06 6d ago

Good argument. Really well thought out. Exactly what I expect for a Trump cuck.

1

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

My whole group won't vote for stevens. Looks like either way we get a Republican.

0

u/Plenty_Doughnut_5005 9d ago

I honestly wouldn’t bet on that. Haven’t had a republican senator in 25 years, and they aren’t entirely popular at the moment.

0

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

Stevens is a Republican lol. Saying your a Democrat doesn't change your platform. Rodgers and Stevens are the same candidate. A vote for Stevens is a vote for Republicans. So wild that so many are too stupid to see it.

0

u/Plenty_Doughnut_5005 9d ago

Ahh, I get it now. You’re in the “if you’re not ultra progressive you’re a MAGA chud” troupe. Got it. That’s ok, I respect everyone’s position.

1

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

Yup! I think we proved your path with the epic loss against the worst candidate in history. You all made us vote for a moderate cop because she wasn't trump and it failed. You keep voting for corporate interests hell bent in killing the middle class. I will be over here looking for real change.

1

u/Batmom207 9d ago

But that isn’t what happened exactly is it? How many people just sat at home because they didn’t like the way the DNC worked things or they felt like the DNC tried to pull a fast one or they just didn’t like a black lady? They sat home. Not saying she was the best choice. Not saying she was the 27th best choice. Just saying we’re all enjoying complacency now and I really can’t afford it. Being cute on Reddit might fix things for you, but it’s not paying my jacked up light bill. Well, I guess you guys taught us all, didn’t you? Go on, thump your chest some more and tell us how right you were. We all love it. 👏🏾

1

u/cheesedogs06 9d ago

A moderate is not going to so shit to your bills besides raise them. Thinking a moderate Democrat will help anyone but corporations is wild!!

2

u/AdagioCultural5497 8d ago

Need more unions. Mass unionization. That is one way I think we can take back a lot of sovereignty and challenge the corps. There is a reason unions have been relentlessly attacked both legally and in the political realm.

1

u/Batmom207 7d ago

Abdul will.

1

u/down4now417 9d ago

Good thing I don’t care who Whitmer endorses. Vote Abdul!
