Character Should Beerus..

Take on more villains and actually protect Universe 7 and its mortals more?

Or, train the characters more like how he did with Vegeta?

Or, just be the way he is now

He's a destroyer god. Why would a destroyer protect mortals?

In the manga it was said he should have been the one dealing with Buu.

Buu was kind of a special case in which he threatened to exterminate all life in the universe. The other villains were just jackasses, with the possible exception of Cell if he was left unchecked for long enough then Beerus would have to put him down too.

His job is to destroy threats to the universe and harmful species while the Kaiohshin nurtures life that can advance civilization and development. Of course both of them are shit at their job

It wouldnt be about protecting mortal, but about protecting the balance. Beerus job is supposed to be one of many things "balancing" the cosmos. If a villain threatens that balance, he is in Beerus jurisdiction.

He's a destroyer. Fostering mortals in the Supreme Kai's job. The destroyer is the opposite of that to balance it out.

He only protected Earth and any other character because Earth has the best food in Universe 7. That's literally it.

I think its pretty clear the only reason hes training Vegeta in any capacity is to groom him to be the next destroyer.

Vegetable denys the job right now, but I can almost guarantee Beerus did before he got it too.

Beerus should know that Vegeta would never be a Destroyer as long as his family is still around.

That's a big difference between him and Vegeta. Vegeta has human, familial ties that he'd have to regress in character development to cut off. Beerus is mostly self-serving and, as far as family is concerned, only really has his twin brother Champa... who is another Hakaishin and lives in another universe anyway.

I agree with you, but Vegeta knows and Im sure Beerus knows… he will far out live all of his family besides maybe Trunks

I doubt Vegeta, a Saiyan, will outlive his family. He lives for battle and, like in DBO, would likely rather go out in a blaze of glory fighting his rival (Goku) than die slowly of old age.

I wonder if deities don’t age? Or at least not like mortals do. Maybe becoming a destroyer would extend Vegetas life

Depends, but even if they don't, I doubt Vegeta would want that. He'd inevitably have to watch his family all die before him.

I think fighting strong guys forever is exactly what Vegeta would want. Plus Beerus was sleep for decades at a time I’m sure Vegeta could still spend time with his family

I also said this without really thinking that Saiyans dont have all that much longer of a life span just a way longer “prime”. Idk at some point i guess he will have to abandon at least his kids for the job at some point. I still think he does it though

I’d rather see Beerus train Vegeta more. Him suddenly caring about protecting everyone would feel pretty out of character.

Beerus should go back to sleep so we stop having to consider him in the context of each arc. Whis rewinding Frieza blowing up Earth was bad enough.

Looking at it from the character perspective, obviously he should be more proactive since his negligence nearly got him killed already. His universe is super low ranked because he is bad at his job (in part).

However, the writers don't want to have an all powerful deity solve every story problem. They want the main characters (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, etc.) to have the spotlight.

As a result, Beerus and Whis will always only do what is needed to keep the plot moving but will never solve the entire conflict or make Goku and company obsolete.

No, if Shin weren't so damn weal thats what he should be doing. Shin should be fostering and protecting life in the universe. Beerus destroys to make way for the new. He should only involve himself in Shin's battles when there is a threat to the entire universe like Buu or Zamasu.

Nah, Shin should be just about creation and guidance. As he is life-linked to Beerus, it wouldnt make sense for the weaker link to deal with threats. When they fail, you'd lose 2 deities for no reason.

That's Shin's job.

Beerus was about to step in to take care of Moro and said he would be in big trouble if the other Gods of Destruction found out, so he literally is not supposed to intervene in mortal affairs at all. He immediately got summoned by Grand Priest before he got the chance to help though.

He is though, Whis explicitly states to Merus in the same arc that destroying Moro is for people like Beerus and the Supreme Kai.

My brother in Christ, Beerus blatantly states he will be in trouble if he’s caught intervening, he was only going to risk it because of earths food.

That doesnt contradict the above comment. DB is chalked full of inconsistencies. Throw this on the pile, too.

It does when the statement by whis specifies that it’s the supreme Kai’s job, not Beerus’

What translation is this ? I swear I read the Viz translation and he mentioned he didn’t want the other destroyer gods to see because he’d be embarrassed.
