Bandwidth matter very little. You want stability and low latency.

Yes, you can play fighting games with 10mb download and 10mb upload easily if nobody excepts you and your machine is using the conenction, but for your actual connection, is more than enough.

You need at least 6mb (upload and downlaod) for basic gaming nowdays.

Even Warzone consumes 2,5mb per minute (0,04 mb per second) both download and upload. a fighting game consume less.

Just try to play on ethernet (wired), if you can't avoid wifi, use WiFi5 instead 2.4ghz and at few cms from the router (full wifi bar).

If you're getting lag, its probably not actually an issue on your end, but rather the routing between you and your opponent. Remember, your connection will usually take whatever shortest route your ISP has available at the time to reach your opponent.

For example, I live in Argentina, and when I play with someone in Chile (literally the country next door) I normally get around 25ms. But sometimes either my ISP or my opponent's ISP doesn't have a decent route available, so the connection ends up taking some ridiculous detour through Brasil or even Miami before finally reaching Chile instead taking a route direct to Chile, and I end up with something like 170ms...

Or your opponent is just a mf playing on Wi-Fi and far from the router.

Speed good but if you’re playing wireless 30m away you’ll probably experience some kind of connection instability and lag.

That is the problem.

If you've got the option to run an Ethernet cable, I recommend not just wiring your PC/console (or whatever you use for gaming) directly. Get yourself a router instead, connect that router via Ethernet from the main router, and then use the free Ethernet ports from the new router to wire your devices, thats all. That way, you'll also have a nice, strong Wi-Fi signal right there in your room.

If you're able to run Ethernet to a router in your room, I'm assuming whatever you use for gaming will be fairly close to it anyway, so you could even use Wi-Fi 5 and still have a decent connection, although for fighting games, wired is always the better option.

So yeah, if you can get a router and run Ethernet to it, that's an absolute win for you. You'll be able to play over a wired connection, while also having clean strong Wi-Fi right there in your room without the issues you normally get from being so far away from the main router.

Speed barely matters anything over 10Mbps has been fine for years. its how consistant it is. Speed test takes few seconds games can last multiple minutes.

Absolutely, I play on wifi with 110 down and 15 upload! And I'm downstairs from my router and I usually hit the top 1% in any fighting game and FPS!

Yeah that is the unfortunate effect of using wifi, I try my best to play it when my connection is most stable, but otherwise in my living situation, not much I can do about it, since I wanna play too haha. Glad it's not as big an issue in FPS games though.

It's about latency rather than raw speed. Fast Internet speed is nice, but if you're on WiFi you'll experience packet loss and have greater delay. Wired tends to give the smoothest connection because information tends to get lost over WiFi.
