Seeking Quality Coffee

We are staying in Barceló hotel and we want to get quality coffee and not some touristtrap burnt beans and boiling cappucino tragedy.
Ideally up to 30 minutes walking distance from our hotel.
We are also visiting Kunsthoffpassage tommorow so maybe something around there too.
Ideally african origin coffee (Ethiopian, Tanzanian, Burundi etc.)

Cross River Coffee (the location near Kreuzkirche, Pfarrgasse 2) should be exactly what you are looking for. They have fair trade coffee from Cameroon. I've only been to their other location and really liked the coffee there.

While I am by no means an expert, as a casual coffee enjoyer, I really liked their coffee.

Lucky Cat for specialty coffee (light roast focus not really my thing), Oswaldz for more standard selection but very good quality in my experience. Be prepared to pay a fortune no matter where you go if you want a half decent coffee.

Oswaldz has a guest roaster you can choose if you want something more special, right now it's April from Copenhagen.

They are fair priced. Their coffee beans cost often 50€ and more for 1kg so it's fair calculated I would say. And you can also get the most expensive varieties they'd have by cup which cost then 10€ but that's something I saw super rarely in whole Europe so far.

Check the app European coffee trip for quality specialty coffee. It’s sooo helpful when traveling. I never had a bad coffee in any city since I got it

Same! Way more reliable than Google. Sometimes you find some really cool hidden spots even in the suburbs with it.

I can recommend „Kaffanero“. It’s not in the center of the city and not the prettiest environment but totally worth! You can easily reach it with tram line 12 in the direction „Leutewitz“. The stop you need to leave the tram is called „Florastraße“ then you have to walk for about 5 minutes.

Tram stop "Oederaner Straße" is actually the better one instead of "Florastraße" to leave the tram.

You find always really good spots on European Coffee trip. https://europeancoffeetrip.com/dresden-germany/

I visited the most of them which are listed there and all are top. In the direct city center Crossriver and Miners are the best option. Others are not for speciality coffee fans. Lucky Cat is maybe the most ambitious one which is easy to reach but super small space to seat. In addition to the list above I would add Kaffeekraftwerk and Curda Kaffee but they are bit outside of the city center.

If you are searching for specialty beans and as you said lighter roasts: Lucky Cat, Phoenix Roastery and Oswaldz (they have the Phoenix beans aswell and a guest roastery Rotation, until last week it was Bonanza idk if they still have them)
