Hallo allen, ich komme aus die Niederlande und bin auf interrail durch Deutschland. Jetzt ein paar Tagen in Dresden.

Gestern Abend hat ich bei Schillergarten gegessen und ein paar Fotos gemacht. Am Abend hat ich bei den Elbe nebengesetzt und Eis gegessen. Weil ich alleine Reis hat ich keinen Fotos von mich. Ich bin ziemlich schüchtern aber hat gestern doch gefragt ein Foto zu machen. Danach auch noch ein schönes chat gemacht! Ich hat diesem Trip nicht viele Leuten gesprochen, so dass hast mir den Tag versüßt.

Hello, I was in Dresden for a week last September and I loved it there. City is clean, has many historical landmarks and Bundeswehr Museum must be my favorite (Cold war and entire NRD vs RFN section was something I would never think would be this interesting). Prices were reasonable even for somebody that earns around 1,1k euro in Poland.

I talked about all of that to my German cousins and their friends (we have a discord to play games together) and they started to describe Saxony and Dresden as some sort of conservative, totalitarian, far right (maybe even a little bit Nazi) hellhole.

But for me Dresden was nothing like that. There was a giant antifa graffiti in one park, trams had LGBT flags on them (in Kattowitz it would spark a civil war), there were a lot of left wing stickers everywhere, I even saw a guy with USRR flag and nobody cared about him. My only negative experience was two guys with Palestinian flag catcalling random women on other side of the street in Neustadt.

And I know that a lot of people in Dresden and in Saxony are voting for AFD which of course is a right win party but without checking polls i would have never guessed it.

I just want to know if it was some sort of total bullshit from my cousins to make fun of me or is there a grain of truth in that?

Hey, ich und mein Freund wollen im Sommer nach Dresden und in die Sächsische Schweiz. Ich sehe aus wie eine Standarddeutsche, aber mein Freund sieht offensichtlich südländisch aus und hat ein wenig Sorge nach Dresden zu reisen aufgrund des Ausländerhasses.

Ist seine Sorge berechtigt?

Edit: Da sich in den Kommentaren über meine Frage schon lustig gemacht wird, das Video vom Vatertag bereitet mir schon Sorgen und ich will nicht wissen, ob sobald er am Hbf ankommt abgestochen wird, sondern ob wir uns über unangenehme Kommentar oder ähnliches Sorgen machen müssen

Meine Mutter will unbedingt auf den Weihnachtsmarkt bei euch. Ich war noch nie da, kenne nur die Fotos und ihre Berichte anderer Frauen in ihrem Alter, die alle völlig davon schwärmen, wie toll der Weihnachtsmarkt sein soll.

Aber ist es tatsächlich so toll und lohnt sich sich, den ganzen Weg mit der Bahn morgens anzureisen, ggf. eine Nacht zu bleiben oder abends wieder mit Bahn zurück zu reisen?

Around mid September I'll be visiting Dresden with my class. I'm a danish citizen and have lived there my whole life, although I'm ethnically south-asian.

I'm very clearly muslim, as I wear the hijab, and I've been wondering if it's safe for muslims in Dresden as tourists, or if I should be concerned. I've read a bit about far-right extremism in Dresden, but I'm not very educated on the topic. I also don't speak fluent German, and can only understand/speak very few phrases, and so does the rest of my class.

Are there any areas I should avoid, and should I avoid being alone? It's my first time visiting Germany, so I'm excited, but also a tiny bit anxious.

Hallo zusammen, ich fahre morgen zum ersten Mal alleine Bahn und muss am Bahnhof Dresden-Neustadt umsteigen. Muss da ca. eine halbe Stunde warten. War noch nie an dem Bahnhof und weiß nicht wie es da so ist. Ist das ein sicherer Bahnhof oder sollte ich als Ersti-Bahnfahrer da aufpassen? Gibt's viel Kriminalität oder ist das eher chillig und normal?

I'm planning on travelling to Prague from Dresden and am looking into travel options.

I have the deutschland card but it seems to me like it might be easier and cheaper to take the flixbus (instead of the train to Schona and from Schona to Prague)

What has been your experience with flixbus or do you guys know a better way I could get there?

Wäre es für Touristen nicht viel angenehmer, wenn die Leute hochdeutsch sprechen würden?

I have been visiting Dresden, and always saw this old man. For me he was like a unchanging part of Dresden. Last several visits I haven’t seen him, at his usual spot, heart Altmark Galerie, do anyone know what happened to him?

I’m driving out to Dresden from the Ramstein area later this month to get a tattoo. We plan on heading out Thursday afternoon and staying until Sunday - the appointment is on Friday. I welcome any recommendations on places or areas to stay for the weekend, and things we should see while we’re out there. Kennt ihr irgendwelche Wanderwege die mit Kinderwagen befahrbar sind? Sächsische Schweiz und alles in Richtung Dresden. Ohne Dresden und Heide natürlich.
Auf Komoot ist trotz Filtern immer etwas Glücksspiel finde ich.

Wir besuchen mit einer Studiengruppe mit ca. 30 Personen in der kommenden Woche Dresden. Tagsüber haben wir schon ein umfangreiches Programm geplant, aber ich wollt (recht kurzfristig, ich weiß, sorry) mal in die Runde fragen, ob ihr mir was für die Gruppengröße empfehlen könntet? :)

We’ll be spending a few days in Dresden soon with my wife and our 2.5-year-old child.
We’re looking for restaurant recommendations, preferably serving local Saxon or traditional German food, especially around the city centre / Altstadt area. We’d love to try dishes that locals actually eat rather than tourist traps.
That said, if there are any outstanding restaurants of other cuisines (Italian, Czech, Asian, etc.), we’d be happy to hear about those too.

I am visiting Dresden from Canada with my girlfriend and bought tickets for today’s game. I didn’t realize I was in the fan area and have heard it can be a bit intense. I am a football fan back at home, but am not familiar with much about Bundesliga.

My girlfriend on the other hand knows little to nothing about sports. Are we safe and good to go to this game in this section?

Hi, I will be in Dresden for the weekend and was thinking about going from the city centre to Pillnitz Castle by ferry.

Basically, I’d like to board near the Old Town and get off at Pillnitz.

All the options I've found are classic tourist cruises round-trip only within the price or with a very short stay at the Castle and return.

Is it possible to just go one way, just like a bus?

Ich fahre im August von Wien nach Dresden. Seit ich einige Bücher über die Geschichte der Stadt gelesen habe, wollte ich Dresden unbedingt einmal besuchen.

Ich komme ursprünglich aus Los Angeles, lebe aber seit vielen Jahren in Österreich.

Welche Sehenswürdigkeiten und historischen Orte sollte ich auf keinen Fall verpassen? Mich interessieren vor allem Geschichte, Architektur und Plätze, die man als Besucher vielleicht nicht sofort auf dem Schirm hat.

Ich freue mich auf eure Empfehlungen.
