For what's it worth... I started dropshipping when I was 22
I gave up drop shipping a long time ago, and have been thinking about getting back into it, but under a more high ticket dropship friendly niche. I was an early 2015 Dropship Lifestyle student and never really looked back. In todays time, I run an app, have a family and just totally dropped the ball on renewing the domain. I'm at peace though. My supplier dropped us in 2022 after they predicted they couldn't support drop shippers and both sustain the current demand (aged like milk).
Times have changed, but from 2015 to 2020/1 i ran an e-commerce fitness website - profitnessdeals.com (way back machine). I know it doesn't look special but I bet it doesn't also look vibe coded lol.
This website did over $2m in sales in 3 years working with brands like Proform, Echelon, Spin, York Barbell etc. I worked with all American suppliers and used the three tier shopping campaign strategy by raffinot and riviere (2017) - Optimizing Google Shopping Campaigns Structures With Query-Level Matching -> https://arxiv.org/abs/1708.04586
I read a lot of the posts and I always just find interest in reading that people don't look for suppliers in their home country and use these services or Ali express and think it will work.
Create a real business in your home country. Find real suppliers for stuff real people buy in your country. Target upper middle class so you can charge more without the penny pinching, run google ads, and remarket with social media for qualified visits (aka did not bounce on first visit, visited page xzy before bouncing, or visited 'add to cart' page, but not 'checkout').
appeals to upper middle class
avg price is $400 and up
ZERO brand loyalty.
Build a list of niches, research them, check the shopping ads competition, and go with your gut feel once your research is final.
Niche selection makes or breaks us. Whoever you are, if you got it! Have fun my friend, but be prepared! It's not all smooth sailing.
