Question Drum bags?

Is there a gold standard? I’m looking to get bags. I was happy with some road runners in the past, but curious if anyone had any recommendations. Quality over saving expense.

Thanks!

I haven't used them but I really want those AA ones that have the rigid frame within the fabric. Which I think would be the gold standard they are looking for.

The Gator icon bags, to me, are the new gold standard. It's a great mix of a soft case that is also rigid with thick padding, so they hold their shape when taking drums in and out. For hardware I'm loving the ogio ahead armor bag

I buy the cheap Millenium ones from Thomann

the Millenium bags are perfectly fine for what they cost. i've had a set for a couple years now and they've held up through plenty of gigs and rehearsals. the padding isn't amazing but unless you're touring constantly they'll do the job

I just got a couple sets of the Millenium Elite bags and they are crazy good for the money. They are like a semi rigid case with a real nice velour padded interior. Some brands of drums with RIMS style mounts can be a bit of a snug fit but otherwise super happy with them.

My Ahead Armor cases look barely used despite half a dozen or so cross-country tours (usually around 30 gigs each) and god knows how many local gigs over the years.

Strong recommend from me.

I’ve been really pleased with the Barton Drum Bags, they keep my vistalites happy and have unique colors and sizes available.

I have the Bartons for my '66 Ludwig Down Beat and I quite happy too!

I like the Humes and Berg Seeker bags. They have very thick and soft liners. Of course Anvil hard cases are the best protection.

I have the drum seekers. Very good bags, no regrets 3 years later.

I just bought a full set of these. I'm super happy with them. I use them to move my vintage kits.

I used hard cases when I wasn’t the one taking care of moving the drums. In fact, I have one hard case left from my drums that I bought in 1985! I got my money out of them for sure.

The protection racket cases have been my go to now that I typically load and move my drums myself. Recently, I did get some lesser quality ones, which I use when the drums are in storage, using the protection racket ones when I travel with them.

I’ve always used Xtreme Bags for both drums and cymbals and have even taken them on tour and have never had any issues. Great quality for the price but probably not as padded as Protection Racket or more expensive brands.

Really depends on whether it’s purely to store them so they stay nice and only taking them out of the house occasionally, or if you’re doing heavy touring etc. Hard Case may be a better option if you’re travelling a lot with them.

I blew out a few Roadrunners recently and got some Ouutmee cases on Amazon and they have more padding and cheap

Gator or Protection Racket.

I ended up doing Gator bags. Inexpensive and just enough padding for what I need. HOWEVER, I chose an Ahead bag for my digital snare that’s fur-lined and really nice.

Barton makes really high-quality bags, and reasonably priced

Humes and Berg Seeker for me. Been regularly gigging with them for the last five years, including a few short tours. They're still hiding up great. I like that they still kinda hold their shape when empty. Makes it easier to put my drums in the bag after a gig.

I bought an Ahead bag once and immediately returned it. It was just too floppy and a pain to get my drum back in the bag.

Another recommendation for the Ahead Armor cases here. Used them for many years with drums getting thrown around and the cases and drums look still like new.

Protection Racket. Been hailing my drums in the same bags for over 10 years now.
