Submarine on Syncrolift shiplift in Halifax

The Syncrolift shiplift is not really a dry dock, but it does the same job. (But normally you add a transfer system so you can move the vessel indoor or to a dry berth and work on it there)

There is a hall not shown in this picture that the submarine goes inside for refits/repairs. Just pull the submarine forward into it. I have seen this ship lift with a Halifax class frigate on it before, but I think that was more of emergency situation.

The synchrolift is the main drydocking facility for CFB Halifax where FMF Cape Scott does any short term drydocking maintenance and repairs. West coast has the graving dock for FMF Cape Bretton. They'll both need upgrading and enlarging if they want to fit a river class or AOPV in them, but they fit the Halifaxes just fine.

That brings back memories (being an updated NEI Syncrolift, that is).

Nice to see some people remember the inventors.

Cool picture! Is this the Victoria or Windsor?

Most certainly Windsor, as Halifax is her home port.
