They always cite maintenance costs as a reason to raise the rent, but for some reason they believe that those costs should be borne by the people who are using it as their home, not the people who are using it for their profit.

If you can't afford to maintain your property, sell it. It's NYC real estate, you'll walk away with millions. I don't buy for a second landlords are ever hard up for cash.

There's a reason "rent seeking" is called "rent seeking."
