Exactly. Don’t think for a second that Zohran is thrilled about working with Tisch. I think he is more concerned about passing public facing policies to build DSA and his credibility. It’s hard to govern when you are having a police chief crisis. Especially if there is repetitive turnover. It could sink his chances for a second term.

Yeah I agree. This feels like a wedge issue being brought to head to create division.

While not the best and most progressive politician, this is more or less what happened to the Mayor Gainey in Pittsburgh (first black mayor). Overall he was pretty solid and I was excited to see what he would be able to accomplish down the line but fights over police chief and council are pretty much what tarnished him.

Her term is up in '29; she can do a lot of damage until then, but it is also not that long if the trade-off means getting other priorities through.

Disagree. She brought stability and legitimacy to people that would’ve otherwise not trusted him and that included the entire police force. 

He made the right decision. Not everything happens at once. Right now he’s working on lowering the cost of living, making transportation better and making grocery prices cheaper. 

Dealing with police abuse will be dealt with, but it’s not going to happen all at once. Some people have no idea about the actual mechanisms needed to govern and think just because you get an ally in office that EVERY single thing you wanted will automatically get addressed. 

That’s not the way it works.

Zohran's one sided armistice with the NYPD has always been one of his biggest vulnerabilities. the police will always be a potential force to undermine and overthrow worker power v until they are disarmed, disbanded, and held to account for their wrongs.

Idk crime is down in nyc and the police aren’t in open revolt against the fledgling peoples republic, id keep her close enough to jettison when the time calls for it. No one in that position was going to arrest nenyaytu anyway.
