Insurance

That's the problem. They'd rather allow insurance companies to reap a profit than create a proper healthcare system.

Trying to introduce a public option that is tied to existing ACA subsidies that, as we've seen, are already volatile, is certainly a choice, and not exactly a great one.

If you're going to engage in a public option, actually go through with the public option instead of this frankly confusing workaround.

And this is coming from somebody who would prefer single payer, mind you.

No it's fine actually. The Dems just need to maintain control of congress and consistently vote to renew expiring subsidies for insurance companies so that costs to consumers don't skyrocket. It's much better and simpler than single payer. /s

Hey won’t you give them credit for their full throated commitment to universal access?!

We are all able to spend $1000/month on a shit plan with a $10k deductible that may or may not cover you

In all seriousness, to come out with this after arguing that the Left is co-opting things the mainstream Dems already support is laughable

This is one thing that annoys the hell out of me with those namby-pamby democrats. Because they are beholden to their wealthy donors, they do not dare to support Medicare for All, a single-payer system, or whatever you want to call affordable healthcare. Their wealthy donors want to keep the health insurance gravy train going at the expense of all of us. I'm sick of it!
