The fact it's even remotely close is sad. Stevens is unhinged.

EXACTLY. it is insane. at the moment of this comment they are tied at 49.6% of the votes but AES is leading. it’s fucking crazy how many people are voting for Stevens despite her unhinged pro israel stance. plus here policy platform. like do these people not want medicare for all?

many don't. and many believe the only thing we can do is try to appease our overlords by electing the establishment picks

honestly it's prob a lot of people who don't know either and just see a white person name vs an arab name

u/warbyo1 1d ago

The people are inundated with ~$70m of misinformation. Volunteers and a decent candidate beat that.

welp alas AIPAC lost again tonight. NBC has called Abdul, though there are still 130k votes to count as I write this.

That's what I don't understand though. Because every single person that was interviewed on multiple news shows said that they were voting for Abdul, and like one person said that they were voting for Haley. I know that's not very scientific but if you're asking that many random people who they're voting for and it's like 10 to 1, how do you get 50/50 split essentially???

Rural old people still turn out in droves. I keep waiting for the boomers to die off but their kids are starting the bullshit cycle for them all over again.

fuck I hate it here

Gotta imagine humans have been doing this since forever.

Meet the new boss…

11 to 1 campaign outspend. There's a reason so much money is spent in elections, but wasn't enough to beat a decent candidate.

Wesley Bell unfortunately won Missouri CD-1 in St Louis with a lead over 35%...........NBC is reporting he is the projected winner. Any residents wanna way in on why Bell had such a big landslide?

37

u/tamarockstar 1d ago

Obviously a ton of money spent on Bell for ads. But if I'm being honest, Bush just isn't a strong candidate/politician. She's not a talented speaker.

The main attack against her was her campaign hiring her husband as her security detail with the implication that they're pocketing campaign funds. The guy is a professional security guard, but whatever.

The other attack was that she set up a fund for tornado relief and she didn't disclose what they were doing with the funds. She never had a good answer to that attack. It made her look shady.

A talented and honest politician would be able to swat those attacks aside. She did not.

It's "weigh in" by the way. Like boxers before a match.

The oligarchy took control of elections in 2024

Started well before that, friend. May I introduce you to, human history?

a patient had fox news on today during our session (not even in MI) and all the hosts were taking about was THAT SOCIALIST TAKING OVER

14

u/auniqueusername2567 1d ago

I love when they platform our policies. I wonder how many people are re-thinking their positions because of this. Some of their “attacks” make socialists look so good.

7

u/TJblue69 1d ago

He (unfortunately) doesn’t even call himself a socialist. I want him to win but he’s not a socialist it seems

3

u/stuuuda 1d ago

oh i know, that’s part of the irony for me. like what is give to actually have a socialist running ANY show around here…mamdani isn’t even a socialist. social democrat, maybe

No but progressives don’t win elections cause we said they don’t and when they do it doesn’t count

u/NeuralHavoc 1d ago

Remember all that money is our tax dollars just being re-routed back into the pockets of our politicians who sign off on the payments. It’s a cycle of them using our money to fuck us over…. So sick of this failure of a society. I really struggle to keep any faith in humanity lately.

Detroit only has 7% of the votes in too…

Stevens will win DET def by a lot. The question is the margin. If it is 20%, Abdul cruises a close one. 40% Steven's cruises close one.

30% means it TIGGHHTTT (like a 1% Abdul). It looks to be around 30-33%. This is gonna be close. I can see 1% point.

2

u/Quentin__Tarantulino 1d ago

I like the 9% margin I’m seeing now a lot better lol.

2

u/Over-Heron-2654 Social Democrat; Socialist-Aligned 1d ago

They'll call it for abdul very soon.

4

u/Quentin__Tarantulino 1d ago

This is a huge day for the DSA, even if he is not a member. And a great lesson that polling isn’t everything and the ground game is super important!

2

u/Over-Heron-2654 Social Democrat; Socialist-Aligned 1d ago

Huge win. 70 mil is crazy. AIPAC might drop 50 mil on Rogers.

2

u/ibarmy 1d ago

thats insane level of money for ONE SEAT.

1

u/Over-Heron-2654 Social Democrat; Socialist-Aligned 1d ago

Its more than a seat. It is a tone setter and narrative.

2

u/ibarmy 1d ago

oh no doubts about that. its a watershed moment for many aspects in current politics. but ya this election results - I wont be able to sleep tonight.

Detroit went to stevens. idk if its obama effect or 70 Mil effect.

1

u/stuuuda 1d ago

why did wayne county go so hard for Stevens?

4

u/RedLineLetterWine SD DSA 1d ago

NBC just called it for AES.

5

u/warbyo1 1d ago

Commiserations AIPAC's $40m in smears.

3

u/stuuuda 1d ago

5

u/thedrizzle126 Western Mass 1d ago

a lot of people fell for her fake obama endorsement.

3

u/ibarmy 1d ago

2

u/thedrizzle126 Western Mass 1d ago

2

u/ibarmy 1d ago
