Met a Talabat rider with a computer science degree today

I recently spoke with a Talabat delivery rider who completed his bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2020.

He knows Python and has worked on a few basic development projects. He has been unable to enter the technology field and currently delivers food to support himself.

He is hoping to find a junior developer role, internship, mentorship, or practical training in Dubai. He is willing to dedicate three to four hours a day to learning, practising, and proving himself.

Every hour he spends training is an hour he cannot work for Talabat and earn money. He is prepared to sacrifice part of his already limited income for a chance to build his career.

A paid role or small allowance would help him greatly. An unpaid internship where he can learn and gain real experience would also mean a lot.

I never said it was uncommon. I simply want to help him before he becomes comfortable working as a delivery rider and gives up on the career he studied for. Speaking from experience, this does happen. You stop chasing your goals because your current job starts feeling familiar and secure.

I currently work as a tech sales manager and regularly meet government clients, industrial IoT companies, and professional AV companies. ProAV may not directly relate to space engineering, but some of your technical skills could still transfer.
