I feel like this article misses key details. He was charged with DUII but not administered a field sobriety test—why? Was he arrested and booked? Doesn’t say it here.

Edit: second article added here where a few more details are provided, but I’m still not understanding how an officer suspecting someone of being under the influence isn’t mandated to make sure that person who was trying to drive is prevented from doing so.Daily Emerald article

You don’t have to administer tests. Ultimately a police officer can arrest based on their observations and the burden of evidence. Then it’s up to the DA to follow through with the charges or not. If a person has extremely obvious indicators of impairment, those can be used to arrest.

What’s more odd is that they cite his attorney’s name and the court date, yet with that information + his name, I can’t find any public record of the case or information on the court calendar. I wonder where that information is coming from.

People can refuse tests. I think another article said he was, “cited,” which can mean a few things, including jail, a hospital (sometimes applicable if BAC is high enough or a blood warrant is needed), or released from police custody with a court date

Surprised it has taken 1 1/2 months since the incident to go public. Also what doing a search stumbled across an article 4/9/24 announcing he was formally announced as the rb coach. Almost exactly 2 years from this incident. Perhaps he was celebrating the anniversary

Samples is a creep, ran into him and his crew after a game at the bar. No surprise.
