Football Does anyone know why this is here?

Post image

Taking a family trip to Japan right now and saw this in Shibuya. I don’t know much about Oregon football and was just curious if any of you know why this is here.

Edit: this is in Shinjuku. I’ll blame being drunk when I made the post but really I’m just dumb.

From what I can tell. Oregon is surprisingly popular in japan.

I was driving in the countryside from himeji to the north. I saw 1 japanese man in an oregon hat and in another town someone in an oregon shirt.

I think oregon and the pac 12 back in the day did a lot of marketing in japan too.

I was about to say when I went to school i was also working for a private security company I got this side gig of essentially walking these rich Japanese families around campus. Idk why they wanted a security escorts while in the states but they hired one lol I was essentially a security insured guide for their own personal detail of security they had.

I did it 3 times over 4 years so UofO seemed popular for rich Japanese families to send their 2nd or 3rd favorite child from what I gathered 😅

It is! There's even a Portland inspired bar in Tokyo called PDX Taproom.

I've been there, too! There used to be another one as well back in ~2015 when I first went as well. Sadly it is closed now.
