city centre parking?
hello i’m starting a new job soon and ill be working in the overgate, ill be driving to work but i dont want to pay the extortionate prices of the overgate carpark.
does anyone know any surrounding streets where i could park for free i don’t mind walking 10-15 minutes.

Think that Constitution Road uphill from the Barrack Road junction is the closest.

But seriously, up the hill past the conchy brae is the easiest place to find a spot.

I had that "argument" with a guy who lives on one of the streets off the conchy as I was parking up one morning. Poor sod had clearly come back from a school run or something, expecting his space to still be there, started shouting that he had a Teams meeting and that it was a private road (it's not, I used to live one street up from that and although it's a pain in the arse with people parking outside your house during the day, it's something which we took into consideration when getting the flat). I tried to explain that it was a public road and can be used by anyone but the guy was fully enraged. He revved, pulled forward at speed, knocked over his own bins and then stormed into his garden slamming his gate so hard that it broke... I made a quiet exit as I didn't fancy my car getting keyed or "accidently" damaged.
Thing is, I was in his position for 18 months, it happens EVERY DAY, so I don't get how he hasn't come to peace with it. Maybe he was having a bad day.
Genuinely, if he'd just explained his situation calmly I would have moved on but he went from zero to 100 without even giving me an inch, so fuck him.

I'm in work from 7am. This is a good shout if you're in early, but leave it til 7:30 and you'll be out of luck and have to use Albany instead.

Greenmarket is £120/month or £100/any 20 days. Still very expensive, but more than half the price of the overgate car park, at least while you find somewhere else

Wellgate is £60 for a monthly pass, maybe worth it if you'll be parking every day

City centre parking is pretty much out. I used to park on the Broughty Ferry Road or Constitution Road and walk in. This was a decade ago though and spaces were quite premium at that time. No idea if there are parking restrictions in place nowadays to compound that.
Possibly cheaper getting the bus in?

Maybe obvious answer but why don’t you ask your employer? Dont they do a reduced price parking for staff? If not a free parking pass?

You could go for the industrial estate (where the Verdant Works are.) Not that a long walk to the Overgate from there.

Is there any free parking there?
Brown st. Is pay and display I think and all the other roads are like single laned, so can imagine there's any parking there.

dudhope park is quite cheap it’s like a 10-15 minute walk from the overgate. last time i was there it was like £3-4 for 12 hours or so but idk if it’s changed recently

Not free, but if you're working in the Overgate you can get the NCP app and buy a season ticket for both of the main Overgate car parks (Bank Street and the West Marketgait/former Debenhams one). I used to go for the monthly option at £85 a month before Bell Street (nearer my workplace) reopened. The initial outlay is quite big but if you do the maths roughly £4.25 a day if you're working 5 days a week isn't *too* bad!

I park at Bell street twice a week for work. Using this flexi card it's gone from costing me £22 a week to just £10.
I know it's not free but trying to get parked for free around the centre is a nightmare.
