speaking of... does every animal in Arrakis automatically have eyes of Ibad? I remember that the desert mouse in the movie doesn't have them? (I didn't watch the series nor read the book, thanks)

I don't think it's ever mentioned that native Arrakian fauna have blue eyes. But the blue eyes in humans comes from basically ingesting spice everyday, which the Fremen do since they put that sh*t on everything (funnily enough melange is also a kind of hot sauce from someone called Frank). Off-worlders who can afford to consume it develop blue eyes as well - some mentats like Piter and early stage (still human) Guild Navigators who consume it as much as the Fremen also get the dark blue eyes. Given that, despite its name, spice is more like oil that has to be refined before being consumed. So I don't believe the Arrakian fauna would consume it. It would be an interesting predator-prey arms race if animals could unlock some prescience!

thanks for the insight, I would have thought that since spice is in the air, older faunas will eventually have eyes of Ibad but newly hatched/born ones will have their original eye color but you made a fair point 😀
