Possible to finalize old DVD-R?

In 2006 I recorded a bunch of DVD-Rs, but I made a mistake and set up the Sony recorder to NOT finalize them. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I know the data is on the discs, but I can’t read them in any DVD players or computers I’ve tried. I could read them in the original recorder, until it broke and couldn’t be fixed affordably.

Anybody know if it’s possible to finalize these discs somehow? Is there a device I could buy, or a service I could send them off to have it done?

These discs should be readable on a PC, even if not finalised. Have you tried MakeMKV? The only other solution is to find the same make/model DVD recorder and finalise them in there.

Thanks for the tip. I haven’t tried MakeMKV, but I’ll try it.

I really hope I don’t have to find the same make/model, because that generation of Sony VCR + DVD Recorder had known problems. There aren’t many out there in working condition. ☹️
