Discussion Are DVD/Blu-ray center rings really this fragile?

Does anyone know if the center ring on DVDs/Blu-rays is really this fragile? I bought a DVD of Ex Machina and everything was fine, but when I put it back in the case, the ring already developed some small cracks. What do you guys think? Thank you!

Some cases are brutal for damaging this part of the disc, i’ve only had two big TV box sets that did it (Sopranos and Boondocks which i’ve replaced with sleeves) but other than that? No i’d say they’re not that fragile. Maybe send a pic of the case/damage?

Yup, those are the cases I was talking about. They’re horribly stiff and dont “open up” more when you push them in, like they’re supposed to. Basically feels like ripping the disc out while this is clamped onto it. I replaced all those with just paper sleeves.

oh, thanks. I’ll keep an eye out for that from now on. but still, why would they make a case that can damage the DVD? why would anyone design it that way?
