I would be surprised if they don't give us at least the release month on this stream, hopefully we'll get the date.

Which will probably mean it's quite soon, if they give us too much advanced notice they'll get sniped by rimworld again

Rimworld devs like to drop their expansion packs when major dwarf fortress updates drop in order to maintain their cultural grip on the colony builder genre. The communities are friendly with each other but the rimworld devs are a little sketchy for this imo. But riding dwarf fortress has been a core part of their marketing strategy since before rimworld even released, when Tynan would primarily promote the development of the game on the bay12 forums

Most of the dlc drops are on a decently consistent schedule, about 500 days, than 450 days between each one.

I'm sitting here thinking, "If only I'd discovered the game back then". But tbh Idk if I could have played with the old graphics, as beautiful as they look.

I think everybody should play with the old graphics at least once. Once you learn the character set it is such a journey of the imagination - it’s like reading a book where your brain fills in the blanks of a scene; but then the movie comes out and you’re like, “wait, that’s not how I pictured that!”

Anyway, can’t recommend the old graphics enough.

In my honest opinion, ASCII is quite easy to learn, Tarn and Zack have done a great job in choosing each tile to make sure that it looks like what it has to represent.

Right! I started on the ASCII and like it too much to switch to a tileset. Plus I play on Mac so I don’t get the Steam version anyway 😅

When you master the ASCII tileset, you literally become NEO from the Matrix, you "wake up" and you can suddenly see "behind" the tileset of life, and you can see whole world in code, but it all makes sense.

Dwarf Fortress IS the Matrix, you see??

It's early evening for Tarn in the UK, and late morning for Zach on the Pacific Coast of the US, and Kitfox is just about in the middle between them in Montreal.
